Uncle Duke
Hey, does anyone know how to change colors in hacking a 2600 game? Does it require programming, or is there a good program that can do it? I also would like to know how difficult it would be to add a thin cool looking grid to the background in Surround. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have to disassemble the game and understand that code to find the code or data where the colors are stored. It's not to hard if you understand 650x assembler, I did that for about 20 PAL existing only to NTSC hacks, which will be published by AtariAge quite soon (I hope ). quoteI also would like to know how difficult it would be to add a thin cool looking grid to the background in Surround. No chance, you would have to redesign the so called "kernel", which is the centerpiece of every 2600 program. And I doubt that you (or anybody else) will find enough CPU time to tweak the Surround kernel. If you're still interested, the disassembly of Surround can be found at "The Dig" (see Links page). Uncle Duke
Darn, thats one thing I was not born for, thats programming. I just can not figure it out at all. So if there is anyone who thinks they might be able to help me out, changing some of this stuff around, you will get credit when its released. Just let me know if you want to by emailing me here: martymcflybttf@hotmail.com Thanks!
