jetset
Can the Atari XE carts be played on the 800XL? I'm wanting some like Crossbow, Dark Chambers, etc...
classics
Yes, unless they require 128k.
Atari Smeghead
There are XE carts that require 128k? Really? Which ones? I assumed that they made all the carts to work on the XEGS / 65XE. Thanks, Smeg
geosteve
I never heard of 128K carts either
jetset
I think Dark Chambers is 128K ? My 800XL will actually run that file, so I'm wondering if my XL has been upgraded...

Some programs, like Atariwriter, can use the extra memory in the 130XE if it's present, but it's not required. Dark Chambers will run fine in 64K. kevin242
most of those carts will run on a 400/800 too (w/48k)
ndary
XE Cartridges like Flight Simulator, Night Fight, Summer games are 128k in size. they will run fine on XL/XE computers as the games does not copy it self to the extra memory of the ATARI computer, but uses its bank switching technology to load the extra memory from the cartrdige on a normal 64k or 48k ATARI computer
