Thomas Jentzsch
As some of you might already know, I was asked to convert Ghostbusters II from PAL to NTSC too. There is just one little problem: I can't get to the second stage (Broadway). Getting down is also quite impossible for me, without patching the game. Could somebody please explain me, what exactly I have to do when I reach the bottom of the shaft? The manual here on AtariAge doesn't help to much. Any information could be useful. moycon
Something about digging. I cant remember now. I think you just keep pulling the joystick down once you get to the bottom? I cant remember for certain. I heard the second stage is pretty good tho. There was a thread here I think awhile back... that had the solution in it or a link to the solution. No success And I've searched AtariAge for info, but didn't find something about my problem.

Sorry, we're lucky to even have an HTML version of the manual, considering the game was never released here in the US. Because of that, there probably aren't many people intimately familiar with the game. I'm waiting for Scott Stilphen to chip in, though. And that reminds me, I have a slightly different version of Ghostbusters II that we dumped recently. I know it has a different tune at the beginning, but don't remember what else is different. I'll put it up on the site in the morning before I go to work. ..Al [ 02-08-2002: Message edited by: Albert ]
liveinabin
hmmm, he's supposed to scoop some of the slime up from the river. I'll try and find out.
moycon
Scott hacked the game a while back and posted the end. I remember reading it was very simple to scoop up the slime once you got down there. All you did was move the joystick in a particular direction, down I think. I dont remember if you just held it down or kept pussing down over and over...But it seems to me it was something similar to that.
Thomas Jentzsch
Thanks for your help, I made it to the Broadway! I'm not sure what I did exactly, but I think, you have to press the joystick down multiple times.

Scott Stilphen
Once you have the 3 pieces of the shovel, when you reach the bottom simply keep pressing down. Btw, if you or anyone else wants a copy of the hacked version I made, just email me.

Now I'll be able to hack it The music was the only difference that I noticed, as I wasn't able to get very far into the game....
Albert
Here is the other version of Ghostbusters II. Enjoy! And thanks to Scott for selling me a GB2 cart a while back to make this possible. ..Al
Tempest
Speaking of different music in games, while I was at John's house we found a Sorcerer's Apprentice cart that had slightly different music in it. Since it was a production cart I can only assume it was changed mid-production for some reason like Ghostbusters II was. Very odd. Scott Stilphen
Tempest- that was a prototype he had, not a production cart
King Atari
I've reached the second level, it really has some excellent graphics. Anyways, you have to assemble the scoop from the shaft walls, reach the bottom, and take a sample. On level 2, you control the Statue of Liberty, you've got to shoot slime at ghosts, but watch your slime meter as you're doing it (I got here on PCAE, apparently you're supposed to move the ghostbusters on the ground, and pick up slime). All Salu games on PCAE have a problem with cutting the bottom part of the screen off, so I haven't beaten this level. Hope this helps. Thomas Jentzsch
BTW: The hack is finished and was posted to AtariAge.
Tempest
Are you sure? I could have sworn it was a regular cart. I thought the only Sorcerer's Apprentice proto John had was 3-28-83 (the final version), because I didn't record any other dates on my list.
