krisjohn
Hi all, I picked up a 2600 collection recently and in it was a cart simply labelled "Gorf" - black label, white text, no copyright or company information. It was in a CBS Gorf box. However, when I put it in my 2600 it came up with a standard 4-in-1 menu offering Gorf, "P. Patrol" (Planet Patrol), Pacman and Skeet Shoot. Does anyone know anything about this cart, or have any ideas where I might check it's rarity or general status? I'm in Australia and I think it's PAL. TIA, CJ. jahfish
i would say that you have a HES cart, but on the other side some of those games were not released by HES (Home entertainment Suppliers, australia) so i would guess a) it's a selfmade cart b) it's a HES prototype (and you have a PAL capable TV) can you post a pict? krisjohn
Thanks for the speedy reply. quote: Originally posted by jahfish: can you post a pict? jahfish
ok, the box is a typical australian CBS box, but with these usually came the CBS carts. the cart is a typical HES version that usually came in either a vinyl pack or in a regular HES box. but that's probably only the seller mixing it up. the intersting thing is still the combination of games on your cart. is the game menu the same as the HES super hit pak/ smash hit pack/.... -carts? MattyXB
Never hear of this Pak. The Lable looks like the HES lables, but the games together on no PAK if I remember it right. So I think a selfmade PAK.

Another weird thing is that sometimes when I turn on the deck it just goes straight to Gorf. But for all I know that isn't particularly unusual... AlanD
I have one of these I traded for from a friend in Australia. That is the same label and cart box I got with it. Looks identical to yours - same games and also it sometimes goes straight to Gorf and not the menu. Think I have the instructions also and it mentions in them that on some systems mysterious new games will appear on your Gorf cart. Uh-huh like that menu for the extra games just somehow appears when certain planets are in alignment AlanD
krisjohn
Thanks AlanD, I guess we've worked the mystery out. Anyway, I did do a screen grab of the menu and since my video capture device was okay with the signal that confirms it's PAL (my TV doesn't care). Also, while I don't intend to immediately trade or sell this title, I am about to list some of my rarer (according to the JerryG guide) titles, including several HES titles such as Super Hit Pak and Smash Hit Pack -- the latter is boxed. My eBay URL is in my .sig.
jahfish
wow, how did HES manage to get an atari title licenced. afaik there wasn't any atari title they have officially licensed. maybe these were planned-to-release 4-in-One that have been changed back to the regular Gorf game .... if you find another one, let me know fish
