Combat question

I am pretty sure that the gate fold boxes came with the very early VCS. I have a complete one by the way IMO it is the coolest version of Combat.

I think the later 70s and early 80s releases of the vcs came with the standard type of boxed Combat. Incidently, I have two of these complete in box.

I would gladly take you up on the offer, but sadly many of my 2600 commons are loose carts. The complete boxed games I own are either rare or the only copy I own.

My suspicion was that not all systems came with a boxed combat. I think, and don't quote me on this, that later versions of the Atari cae with other boxed games? Therefore you might want a copy of Combat? That sound about right. I think my Atari came with PacMan. I can't really remember. (I like to be as vague as possible)

This has probably been discussed before, but when the Atari VCS was first introduced in 1977 did the Combat game that was packed-in with the Atari console come with box and instructions or was it just included as a plain cart with a manual?

I'm just wondering because it seems kind of hard to find Combat in a box, and given the number of these carts floating around I was wondering if the first Combats came in those cool early fold-out boxes...
