+-^CrossBow^-
I need to pick this title up sometime. I see from time to time loose for about 2 bucks but haven't gotten myself to actually grab any of them. I did find one boxed that the guy wanted $5 for...but I told him that was too high. Later when I thought about it more...I finally decided to get it..and of course...it was gone.
Inky
The later levels with the vortex and the invisible walls and the faster particles make for a challenge and a half!
ratfink
Play it with a trackball! Great game.
onklsven75
I have never found the trackball to work well on any of my 2600 games. Finally, maybe I'll get some use out of it!
+Cafeman
I used to LOVE 2600 Reactor. The arcade game really caught my attention at the local mall arcade, and the 2600 was a great port. You have to smash the rods by ricocheting the particles into them. Here's a question -- what is the BEST home version of Reactor?
Tempest
AFAIK the 2600 version is the ONLY home version of Reactor. Was it released for anything else? Tempest
DuckandCover
I think you're right: the 2600 got the only home treatment of Reactor. Supposedly, Parker Brothers was developing a version of the game for the Intellivision, but it was never released.
NE146
Yes Reactor for the arcades was kind of 'ehhh' but for the 2600 it was a great game If anything, it is definitely unique. If you like Reactor, a while ago I scanned an interview with Tim Skelly who actually designed the game as well as others for Cinematronic (like Rip-Off and Starhawk). It's a relatively interesting read and shows his thought process behind the game. First page is here: skelly page 1 Or actually.. never mind. Just go here and go through the jpg's named "skellyX" in order. There are some other random scans there as well. moycon
I agree Reactor is a totally under appreciated game on the 2600. I used to play the hell outta that game back in the day. I never really played it in the arcade but I loved the huge speakers and the rock music that would come blaring outta the game during the demo. Very cool!!!! I don't recall it ever released on any other systems tho... Not even c64.... But I may be wrong. You'd think it would be a natual on the c64 though as it had great music capabilties for the time.
