eric_ruck
To be truthful I only have about an hour on Resistance: Fall of Man and more like 3 on Gears of War, but I like Resistance a lot better. The graphics are at least an equal, the sound of footsteps on the roof and behind me has me a little freaked out, and although the only extra weapon I have so far is, uh, that bad guy weapon with the homing bullets, I definitely like the weapons better. CPUWIZ
The homing weapon definately rules. I thought you weren't going to open your PS3 until Thanksgiving?
Starscream
This game is the main reason I want a PS3. Either of you play online? Please do and let me know. 40 People!!!!

Flojomojo
I haven't played either one, so please tell me: Do either of these games have any blue skies or other "happy" colors? A;; I've seen is oppressive-looking shades of gray for both of them. Just wondering ... the low-contrast visuals look like they'd be a PITA to play. Starscream
No happy colors in GOW. It is very dismal which is what the game really is about. It's not all dreary though, at some point it does brighten up a little. Gears really sets a new standard for atmpospheres though. the rain is awesome, Nightfall/dawn makes you just look in awe. The thing I have found that really impresses me is the speech in the game. It's got the best speech, character interaction, and down to earth people making fun of people stuff in it. top notch all the way.
eric_ruck
I still have to setup my new router. I'm online on the old router but the connection isn't very reliable because it's too far away. I'm replacing it with two extended range routers, one of them acting as an access point for the 360 as well as a range extender so I can use my laptop from the treehouse. What happened to Thanksgiving? Uh, it's still there. Problem is, I ripped apart the entertainment center to put in a new HDTV, and my wife wanted it all cleaned up, so I had to hook the PS3 up. Which means testing it. Extensively. Eric

But, we can all hope for some in Zelda though.
xenomorpher
Does Resistance have Co-Op like Gears? I just played split screen Co-Op Gears Of War last night and it was a blast. It was awesome when my friend and I chainsawed a guy at the same time.

sega saturn x
I'm finding this impossible to believe, everyone else I've talked to has said exactly the opposite. RFOM looked sooo cookie cutter and generic, better than gears pu-lease.
neotokeo2001
But Gears of War has RUMBLE!!!!! It's like you are actually there. And it is cheaper too.
CPUWIZ
It's a different game, I like them both, but R.F.O.M. has a better framerate and isn't as dark.
sega saturn x
I didn't really notice any frame hick ups in gears. Resistence did look smooth if nothing else.

NE146
Who cares.. get em both. Although admittedly it'll be a while before I play Resistance.. no ps3 Gears is definitely great though, so we'll see.

ubersaurus
Sorry, they're both retread shooters that I couldn't care less about. JR What's GOW a retread of? Becasue from what I've seen and played, about as gooda s you could compare it to is the Tom Clancy games, and even that's more of a "same genre" deal than anything. n8littlefield
GOW, as beautiful as it is, does seem to borrow some gameplay from Kill.Switch. I don't mind, Kill.Switch was full of great ideas that were slightly lost in implementation. Personally, I expected that Resistance would be better. While I like Epic Games I never really expect more than a graphic showpiece with mindless gameplay, which is more or less what GOW is. Insomniac made me a fan with the Ratchet and Clank series so I knew Resistance would be great. I think the issue becomes less "Which is better Zelda, Resistance or GOW", it becomes more about the depth of the rest of the library - which is where the PS2 won last generation. It's going to take at least a year of all 3 systems competing to really decide that.

Starscream
While I like Epic Games I never really expect more than a graphic showpiece with mindless gameplay, which is more or less what GOW is. No it's not. I understand that some people can't comprehend a game does not have to look like shit to be good, or that "great gameplay" doesn't mean a sacrafice of sound, graphics, or control has to be made. It is possible that a game can be everything. GOW may not be the most original game ever, it may have elements of many other games, but it certainly is not mindless gameplay. It's evident that you haven't spent much if any time with the game. Too bad you can't get past the way a game looks.

StanBush
I would need to play it for sure but it does look good. GOW is going to be tough to beat though. Looking forward to trying it out if I ever get my hands on a PS3.
