sniperstorm
I've got a Mega STE with 4MB RAM, built in HD (not sure of the size, but it's pretty big), and running TOS 2.06. I'm using a PS3000 monitor as well. I used to have nice TT030, but where do you think I got the nice Mega STE from? Tempest I just got one 2 days ago. It needs a 1.44 meg floppy, and a new keyboard. Anyone have any idea where I can get them?

Tempest
I know my MSTE does not have the 1.44MB floppy because I tried to format a disk in 1.44MB mode and it failed. Either that or it just doesn't have the Ajax chip (although I hear that may not be entirely necessary). Tempest

So I guess I just don't have the proper drive (the option doesn't come up unless you set the jumper). Other than being able to use 1.44MB disks, is there any real benefit of this? Oh and is there a way to tell the size of the HD? I don't see a xxxMB of xxxMB used type screen. Tempest
jens
On the Mega/STe you can just press Ctrl-S and have shown the size of the current windows' partion.
Tempest
On the Mega/STe you can just press Ctrl-S and have shown the size of the current windows' partion. You mean Shift-S Hmm... It says 12058624 Bytes which is only 11.5MB. That doesn't sound right. Maybe I didn't partition it right? BTW I noticed when it boots up it loads the HD Driver once and says Bootloaded and then it loads it again and says Not Bootloaded. What does it mean by Bootloaded and why is it loading the driver twice? Tempest
jens
Yes, Shift is right. Bootloaded means it is initialized from the bootsector while the not bootloaded message means the driver is loaded from some disk. I think you have shdriver.sys on your boot partition and ahdi.prg (which is the same, just as program) in the auto folder.

I'd never part from a TT for a Mega/STe, but I'm into internet apps and such.

dinosaur
I was given a Mega STe 4 in a van load of Atari stuff from a friend. It looks real nice and clean. I have been busy with other Atari stuff and,I am ashamed to say,I have't even booted it up yet! Right now I am trying to get a KMK-JZ harddrive interface(8 bit) to work properly. Is driving me nuts! Paolo
Paolo, Italy I have a MEGA4STE, 30MB hard disk, HD Floppy, TOS 2.05 Italian, mono monitor (124), SCART connector to the TV. I should find a better home for it, though, since my Falcons get the most usage now. Edited December 24, 2006 by Paolo
