  1. Keep it up, you do a great job. I hope you're able to up the frequency out so we're not all old and gray by the time you're out of the text labels but I know these take a lot of time to produce.
  2. A year or two ago I created a document using research from this site, Atarimania, and that really huge variation document that I unfortunately cannot remember who maintained it. I do not have actual release dates but I used the available catalogs to piece together approximately when the games came out relative to each other. Keep in mind, this is only first party games. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/250397-atari-game-chronology/- Apparently I already posted this once(it's the attachment in the post) so sorry for the repeat but hopefully this helps. Also, if anyone has good reason to believe I am wrong on something, let me know and I'll update my file. I've been out of the loop on 2600 stuff since I originally posted this so maybe something cool has been unearthed that I don't know about.
  3. Thanks, although it's been so long since I've posted that I migrated to Massachusetts. I did find an earlier 1979 catalog on Atarimania which confirms my "section 1" and "section 2" analysis.
  4. One of the fascinating things about Atari is that no one seems to know when the games came out! I'm exaggerating a bit but it's strange how even late era games take a lot of detective work to figure out when they were released. I've been trying to put together a list of the 1st party games in order of release. I used the Atariage rarity guide, the catalog scans, the Giant list of 2600 Label Variations, and some message board posts to put this together. It's too large to type in here so I attached the .doc file. If you guys would rather it be in the post (all 5 pages of it), I can do that. I'm hoping you guys know a whole lot that I don't (highly likely) so that maybe we can tinker with this and make it as complete as possible. It's in my favorite Atari font, MumboSSK (love that slanted e). If it comes out very garbled, hopefully a quick change to a standard font will fix it. it looks good on my end. 5. I was the one whose 7800 seemed to die about a week back so I checked out the record/old game store the other day and found the all black model for 25 bucks. I really wanted a 6 switch but without using the internet to find one, I can't complain. It was pretty dirty but after cleaning it all out, it works like a charm. I'm not sure if 25 bucks was a good deal but I couldn't pass it up. My buddy also picked up a 4 port 5200 from there for 45 bucks that works great too. No faulty switchbox and even the controllers work decently. I am a Qix addict.
  6. I posted this already on the 2600 boards but they directed me here since they couldn't find a solution. The system is clean and the games are clean. What happened was I was playing Enduro and the game just went black on me so i turned it off and then on again after a few seconds. The power light turns on but the picture is black and occasionally there is a strange noise when it turns on. The noise is kind of high pitched. I tried changing the TV cable from my gold plated phono cable to the original Atari brand phono cable. I use the phono-F connector so no switchbox needed. This changed nothing. The power supply is new from Atariguide.com and seems fine since the light turns on. I opened up the system but that RF shield is in the way and I don't want to break the tabs by mistake. I've blown canned air into it before and after this problem started. It isn't the TV that's the problem or any of my cartridges. The only thing I can imagine that I may have done was not letting the rubbing alcohol dry totally before playing the game but the game did work for around 10 minutes before it went black.
  7. I'm leaving it on for a few minutes to see if it heats up but I'm getting that high pitched noise. It isn't just Activision carts because Skate Boardin' used to work and now it doesn't. I played a bunch of Activision games before Enduro the day it died and the previous few days so I wouldn't blame it on Activision at all. Edit: I checked for heat and there definitely was some. When I move the phono plug around, the tv will sometimes go snowy but the beeping stays constant throughout. I've tried 2 sets of cables but I wonder if the port is the problem.
  8. Forgive me for posting on this board about my 7800 but since it is the most active board and I only really play 2600 games, I hoped it would slide. The system is clean and the games are clean. Fortunately Super Smash Bros comes out today so I have something to play but I miss my Atari already.
  9. Yeah asking if it is silver labeled was a little dumb but I was just making certain. It took me until the other day to realize Yar's Revenge had a red label. I'm a young'un so I never got to see the games in stores and remember a lot from the era. I only played my grandmother's 2600 and her small collection of games and wanted to rebuild. Then I went overboard and wanted to get every game. Woot 100 posts. Only took.... almost 6 years.
  10. Wow, quick responses. I'm just getting back into Atari 2600 collecting after a long hiatus. Note the March 2002 join date and only 90+ posts. Thrifts aren't so great around here for Atari but I plan to slowly accumulate til I have all the first party games... except Waterworld and Quadrun maybe.
  11. If so, was it a silver label? I am trying to compile a list of the first party 2600 games and sort them by label style. I see it in the label guide on atariage but I wanted to confirm this because it differs from my giant label variation list.
  12. OMG I'm an idiot. I just pushed on the sticks a little bit... and up pops a dust cover. I thought I had something too.
  13. Excuse my ignorance but I'm not really tech oriented with lingo and all that. On the bottom where the circuit board is, to each side, there is a hole and from that hole there is a stick maybe a centimeter long that comes out of it. That isn't on the main label though. I have some red label carts that have 2 other holes on the front that from the inside, I can see the back of the label. If that is what you mean, no I don't have those two holes. Hopefully that helps.
  14. It's bee a long time since I've posted on these boards but I was going through the Giant list and did not find this variation of Video Pinball on there. I also checked the website that is the update to the now outdated list and it wasn't on there either. It's a black picture label from 1981 with the black atari label partially outside the machine and it has no dust cover built in. aka a Cart 3. Either someone broke off the cover or I have a new variation. Any thoughts?
  15. My Dig Dug(found it) has a silver label but a metal case, not plastic.
