  1. Yeah. Was excited because I could leave the Jag in my livingroom and just use a MiSTer in the office. But, the need for a second RAM module and edgy posts by the core dev left a lot to be desired.
  2. I am used to other BASICs that let you seed by using "RAND = 207". Also, using RAND like "EnemyX = RAND". Something similar to QuickBASIC, SecondBASIC or batari BASIC. Hopefully we can make our own CVBasic community library with a Microsoft BASIC style RAND. Or, just politely ask Oscar for something like that In the meantime I *think* I saw someone post a PRNG that could do something similar. Unfortunately, my search skills are very poor at the moment. Perhaps someone else can post a link.
  3. Yeah, sorry. Didn't make it clear enough that I was talkin' about loading 7800 games and not 2600. When you count the increased size of assets (graphics, sounds, etc...) loading is gonna get slower. In that case you need to get creative. Generic assets in ROM. Load the game and or assets into onboard flash, etc..
  4. I'd rather someone start an actual 7800 cassette adapter (not 2600 only). Something that would have pre made assets that the cassette based game can call to avoid long load times.
  5. Forgot to mention I'm in the US. Just found a similar adapter at StoneAgeGamer but they're out of stock, of course.
  6. So, trying my hand at Neo Geo CD development. Ordered a Japanese Neo Geo CD (not CDZ) as they seemed to be the cheapest. Do I need a "step-down" adapter? If so, which ones do enthusiasts use?
  7. Just purchased a digital copy from the Reboot Patreon shop. Partly to show support. But, mostly because I love small games and hope there's a place for them in the classic gaming ecosystem
  8. I found the bare bones story in the manual of an unreleased version I collaborated on with RetroIsLife: Story One day as Jen returns home from school and finds her TV on and her video game system displaying a new game. Thinking her parents bought her a new game Jen sits down and happily begins playing Balloon Warriors. With a flick of the controller she is blinded by a light as she is sucked in to the television. Opening her eyes she sees the colorful world of Balloon Warrior. A small elfish boy runs over as she pulls herself up from the ground. He begins to tell her of the creatures and the evil queen that has been taking over the land and taking gamers from their worlds. Jen takes the balloon offered to her by the Elfish boy and wraps it tight around her hand and takes off into the air. Aware of the dangers ahead she readies herself not only free the others but also the game world from the clutches of the evil queen.
  9. Yep. Sorry. Was in the Balloon Girl [WIP] topic in the first post. Physical editions had very tiny improvements. https://forums.atariage.com/topic/235593-balloon-girl-wip/
  10. It didn't completely fizzle out. I used the side scrolling engine and some sprites in a subsequent game called Balloon Girl. Controls more like Balloon Fight for the NES except using only one button! Later it had a physical release on one of the first homebrew all original game double enders: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/326533-first-homebrew-atari-2600-dual-cart-balloon-girl-sharkstorm-on-etsy/
  11. I made a side scrolling game called Sensational Santuci Sisters in hopes of making it an official Great Giana Sisters for the 2600. A friend got me in contact with the rights holders but lost touch before anything could happen. So, it was left as a basic, endless side-scrolling title.
  12. I hope moving up the chain of sega consoles eventually leads to Sega Master System support. Perhaps Sega Genesis support by using the z80 and compatible VDP modes. Flashable boards and shells for Sega Genesis are cheap and easy. Plus, many more Sega Genesis enthusiasts out there
  13. @Gameboy30 Hey there, Sir. I saw you posted a rather long video. I'm in crunch mode with business stuff. Sadly, I'm already disappointing other people who needed me to help with their projects. Never learned proper time management. So, I can't be a good resource for you. Explore programming at your own pace. You don't need to be excellent at 2D and 3D graphics. Just do your best and keep trying.
  14. @Austin Maybe this look is better (even though dithering is still dithering) Potential tiles for a port of C@tacombs of Chaos on the Sega Genesis:
