  1. So that's my next question! I have a Samsung LCD TV that claims (on the menu screen) to do NTSC over RF. I have no way to check this other than to buy a NTSC console. Otherwise, I guess options are limited. One route is to get an analogue PC tuner card that has an NTSC tuner, but I guess that also has limitations, and I don't really want to have to hook a games console up to the TV. Maybe I'll come back to the 5200 another time........
  2. They're very hard to come by, because they don't exist! The 5200 was never released in PAL format. There may be a few PAL prototypes floating around, but I've never seen one. Although I did own two supposedly PAL 5200 prototype games. You'll have to use an NTSC 5200. Tempest Thanks for letting me know, at least it all makes a little more sense now! I guess I'll have to scour eBay looking for someone who has reasonable shipping prices to the UK!
  3. I've become a bit of an Atari collector, and over the last few months have got a few consoles (2600,7800,XEGS) on eBay. In the last few weeks I've kept my eye out for a 5200, but not one has appeared on eBay, and I can't see much else online. Are PAL 5200's hard to come by? And if one does show on eBay, does anyone know what sort or price it would fetch?
  4. The Woody I have is (I'm pretty sure) a non heavy 6 switcher, manufactured in Sunnyvale. It's played everything else I've thrown at it, including California Games and "The Activision Decathlon". All 3 Robot Tank carts behave the same, so I'm pretty sure that the problem lies with the Woody in some way. Guess it's just a weird fringe case. Thanks for all the info!
  5. Been going through some stuff to put on eBay and found these rarer PAL carts which I thought I'd check if anyone needed, Ikari Warriors - Atari - Red Label - VG Cond - Cart Only Marine Wars - Konami - Cart Only - Slight tear to bottom of label I also have a Pressure Cooker (cart only - label issues) which I can pull from eBay if anyone wants it. As always, it's difficult to know what is rare with PAL stuff. I'd rather sell them to a serious collector on here than to a random on eBay, but if no one wants them they'll end up on there.
  6. I've been buying lots off eBay, and when the first Robot Tank cart wouldn't work I thought it must just be broken. I got a little suspicious when a second cart wouldn't work, but when a 3rd Robot Tank failed to work I decided something must be up, and it turned out they all worked fine on my Junior. Is there something odd about Robot Tank? I guess it's a little weird because it appears on the list of games that might not work on a 7800, but everything else has been fine on the Woody I've got right now, and surely Robot Tank can't be unique?
  7. Have for sale a bunch of PAL 2600 stuff - mainly games but some hardware too. I'm in the UK but can post to anywhere, and I'll only charge what it actually costs! Happy to sell 1 item or the whole lot - discounts offered for large buys. As always, it's difficult to tell how rare some PAL games are, as the guide isn't too complete. I've got an idea of whats really common and whats a little rarer, although non of these are super rare. I'm looking for £1 a cart for the most common stuff, going up as things get rarer. Just make me an offer and we can go from there. New to these forums - but should have someone to vouch for me soon. In the meantime I'll use my eBay rating here as proof of my trustworthyness! All tested and working. ===== Games ===== Cart only unless otherwise stated - where there is a box the condition varies greatly - check picture (or request a better one!). Adventures on GX-12 - Telegames - Boxed with manual Breakout - Atari Bump 'N' Jump - Telegames- Box & manua California Games - Epyx - Boxed with manual Centipede - Atari Circus Atari - Atari Combat - Atari Dark Chambers - Atari Defender - Atari Defender 2 - Atari - Boxed with manual Enduro - Activision Firefighter - Imagic Ghostbusters - Activision Haunted House - Atari Math Gran Prix - Atari Midnight Magic - Atari - Boxed with manual Mouse Trap - Exidy Ms. Pac Man - Atari Pac Man - Atari Phoenix - Atari - Manual and almost destroyed box Rampage - Activision - Boxed with manual Road Runner - Atari - Box,(poor) no manual Skate Boardin' - Activision - Box with manual Q-Bert - Atari Stampede - Activision Sprint Master - Atari Smurf - Peyo - Boxed, no manual Super Breakout - Atari - Boxed with manual Summer Games - Epyx Winter Games - Epyx Warlords - Atari - Boxed, no manual Video Pinball - Atari Superman - Atari - Boxed and manual - no photo Chopper Command - Atari Mr Do! - Universal Frostbite - Activision - Boxed and manual - no photo Freeway - Activision - Boxed and manual (no photo - ask) Basic Programming - Boxed (good) with manuals - Also boxed controllers for this ======== Hardware ======== Basic programming keyboard controllers - both work, although the buttons on one "feel" better than the other! 2 x Atari 2600 PAL consoles - both the later vader type Junior type - they're both slightly different models of the Junior - don't have pics right now but can send on request. Both work - can supply RF leads. No PSU or joypads. ======== Catalogues ======== 1 Telegames Catalogue - see photos - same as this.
  8. Bump (now with added photos!). I'd love to say all my eBay stuff was retro gaming, but my damn girlfriend won't get her own account!
  9. Two PAL carts for sale. 1. Vulture attack. T-handled cart, labelled K-Tel Vision but most likely a Funvision cart. This has the full "Vulture Attack" label, but I've peeled back the corner ever so slightly to confirm the presence of the Space Monster label. See the Atari Mania page for more details. The cart has the usual glue issues but is otherwise OK. 2. Spider Monster/Maze. T-Handled cart, again labelled K-Tel vision, but the game screen says Funvision. Again, this has one label on top of another, see this page for more details. This time, however, the cart is in poorer condition, with a portion of the top label missing, making the lower label visible at that point. Best to wait for pics of this one to see exactly what I mean. Both have been tested and work OK on my PAL 2600. Sorry for the lack of pictures, I have more time to post this ad whilst I'm at work than at home. I'll add some photos of the carts later this evening, or at the worst, tomorrow evening. Open to offers - I realise these probably aren't as rare as their NTSC counterparts, but it is difficult to find decent info on PAL carts. I'm based in the UK but can post worldwide and will only charge the actual postage cost. Whilst I'm fairly new to this site, I have used eBay for many years - feedback is here. I'd be happy to come up with a way to confirm I'm this eBay user if the buyer wanted.
  10. I just received another (dissapointing) lot from eBay and the Woody in it has a different power connector where the power plugs in to the console. It looks similar to a "normal" one, but the hole is bigger, to the extent that both the official Atari power supply and my multi-adaptor don't fit it properly. I've never seen a 2600 with a non-standard connector before, but then I'm no expert. Is this normal, or has it been "repaired" at some point in it's past?
  11. Thanks for the reply. My TV claims to do PAL, NTSC and SECAM, so I think I'll just get some NTSC carts and see what happens.
  12. I'm sure this is an easy question, but I've struggled to find a consistent answer. Numerous sources say games of one type (PAL/NTSC) won't work on a console of the other type. However, on the conversion page of this site, it states most NTSC games will work on a PAL system, but not vice versa. Is this the case? I guessed the differing number of scanlines would mess things up, but I can almost imagine that the games would play, just at a slightly different pace. And if indeed it is just "most" NTSC games that work on a PAL system, is there any easy way to find out which, and what is the reason for this?
  13. I'm a fairly new collector and am looking to buy PAL 2600 carts. Whilst there are a few specific games I do want, right now I'll consider any titles to get my collection going. I'm in the UK but would be willing to pay fair postage from anywhere.
  14. Thanks for all the replies. My gf found her old 2600 a while back and since then I've been hooked. It's odd, because whilst I can just about remember playing one as a child, it's not one of those consoles I'm nostalgic about (like my C64 or Mega Drive). I don't (as yet) have a great desire to collect every rare 2600 item known to man, but I'd like to build up a decent collection. I've bought a few lots off eBay with the intent to keep some and sell off the rest (and so I have an excess of PAL carts, or at least will when I get round to sorting them out) but I'd prefer to buy the single carts that I want - eBay does allow me to do this to some extent, but tracking down carts from different sellers ends up costing a fortune in postage, so I'd be much happier to buy from someone who has a a decent amount of stuff on here. I really only want PAL carts at the moment, although I wouldn't rule out getting hold of an NTSC console in the future.
  15. I'm new to this site, and whilst I think it rocks, I've noticed that it's mainly populated by people from America, and I'm in the UK. I was just wondering how much luck I might have on here with regard to getting people to ship from America, if there are many UK/European people? Or if people know of another similar forum that is more UK based?
