  1. I think it's ironic that when any post in modern gaming comes up dissing wii and nintendo fans jump on it to defend it, the finger gets pointed at them for always running to the defense. But what are all the non-nintendo fans doing posting in the Wii forums in Wii threads dissing the wii? And if anyone ever says that Bioshock was a sleeper title or a surprise hit, then you surely missed the hype leading up to it. EVERYONE that I work with that plays games, which is about 12 people, we're all wanting it the second it came out and haven't stopped talking about it since. So, I am not surprised about those numbers at all. I don't know if you people have just missed that build up or what. Metroid Prime 3 is not just an FPS. It is most definitely a Adventure game first. In fact, I've never played a FPS like Metroid. Even System Shock or Deus Ex. So trying to say that it being the only FPS on the Wii should make it sell better, that really does not make sense to me. At least not every big game that comes out on Wii is an FPS...
  2. The Wii is outselling the 360 in the US as well, at least so it appears. Here are numbers taken from Wikipedia for what it's worth: Xbox 360 North America sales: 5.4 Million as of May 18, 2007 Nintendo Wii North America sales: 4.63 million as of August 31, 2007 True there is a few months difference from the two dates it was collected at and there is no citation listed. Assuming these numbers are right, and the 360 had a one year lead, then it does look like the Wii is outselling it on a monthly basis as of now. Something else that is interesting and kind of surprising is this number, again if it is true: Xbox 360 Total sales as of Q2 2007: 11.6 million Nintendo Wii Total sales as of Q2 2007: 10.7 million Playstation 3 Total sales as of Q2 2007: 4.28 million Looking at previous console sales, doesn't that look a little low? Even if it is the first year or two of any of those systems lives? Maybe I'm wrong.
  3. I don't agree with you about this, but, even if it is just a different control method, it is still 'doing something different' compared to the other consoles. Again I say, the only major difference with PS3 and 360 is better graphics over last generation and more internet functionality. You say it is the same franchises I have been playing for years, thats true, and there is a reason, they have been updating them and making them better all the time. I don't see how you could look at the control method from Prime 2 and then say it is not a major update when going to Prime 3. It is the best control method I've used so far. It's the accuracy of the on-rails lightgun games with the freedom of your typical FPS movement. I agree with you on the 360 being an amazing console, I love my so far. But what I completely disagree on, as you can probably tell, is that it is doing something new when it comes to games more so than the Wii. I will give the 360 that it has more features that do not pertain to games, better graphics, and unless there is a Wii version of the voice communication from Xbox Live while in games, it will have one up on that as well. But there is absolutely no difference in the games I was playing last generation, or on PC for years, outside of those things. Where as I have never had a truly good pointing device that works nearly as well as the Wii controller does. To me, for a console (with a controller) to top a PC (keyboard/mouse) when it cames to accuracy in controls, that is a big step forward
  4. I completely agree with the strategy guide or cheating. I don't understand why people would buy a guide to walk them through every step of the game. The only time I bought one before is because I wanted info on sidequests and stuff that I couldn't get online because I had a crappy connection then. Now, if I get stuck and can not figure something out for the life of me, I'll read online about that specific step and thats it.
  5. From what I heard about the overheating issue, and thus the RROD I assume, on the 360 it is because the BGA on the board gets too hot it makes the solder melt and flow away just enough to cause a bad connection. I've heard that if you take a heatgun and put a little bit of heat on the BGA it will rebond to the to the solder. The traces can't actually melt as far as I know as I know, under even pretty high operating temperatures .
  6. On the issue of the Core 360 system only being $50 more, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong, the core comes with no ability to use wireless controllers, no Harddrive, so no backwards compatibility, no downloadable content (Movies, TV shows, Trailers, Demos), only standard definition out of box... This to me, more so than a Wii, sounds like I am just buying the respective last gen console again. Buying an Xbox again with marginally improved graphics and no backwards compatibility and no new benefits of Xbox Live. Now, the "base" package for a Wii has most of those things included AND once the the online titles start rolling out, SSB Brawl and Mario Kart are a couple I know of, I don't have to pay a fee just to use the online service. I owned an Xbox and a Gamecube last generation. I only ever bought Halo 1 and 2 and Sonic Mega Collection on the Xbox. Whereas on Gamecube, just to name a few, I got Rouge Leader, Metroid Prime 1/2, Paper Mario, Killer 7, Metal Gear, RE 4, Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Battalion Wars, Timesplitters 2, and a lot more. Some of those games ARE on other consoles or a remake, but still, they were great games and I felt it was very worth the price I paid for, $250 at launch. I didn't need a DVD player or a music player because I already own one! That being said, currently my Xbox is the most used console, because I modded it and use XBMC. I was thinking that the 360 would be used for that until I got one and realized how crappy it's ability is in that regard. I don't understand why I have to buy a mediacenter to be able to use my 360 AS A MEDIACENTER. But whatever. I am completely happy with my purchase, and I feel I am a "true" gamer, if that means anything anymore. I just love Nintendo games because, even if they are all franchises, they are consistently good and fun. I don't care about graphics because I have a PC, and I understand that really great graphics, the best you can get at the moment sure as hell is not on a console. I am sure I'll end up playing the 360 more after I get Halo 3 tonight but I still don't see how it is that much better except if power than the original. One more thing, what exactly is it that 360 or PS3 are doing differently when it comes to games? I don't see anything new over last generation then better graphics and online play. Which to me, is about 10 years behind PC gaming, and still not up to par. And don't give that crap about the Wii not having online capabilities either or whatever. It may not have much now, but as it looks, I don't have to pay to play it once the games do come out. Which to me is just a gimmick. I also do not play any pay-for-play online PC games. I bought a Wii because, while it may not be revolutionary or whatever, it still is different enough that I don't feel like I am just buying a graphics upgrade. I play Zelda and I play Metroid Prime and I think both were well worth the price. Just like how I think I'll feel that Halo 3 and the modding possibilities on the 360 will make it worth it. But to me, to compare the current consoles anymore is getting to be pointless. It's like PC gaming and the NES in the late eighties early nineties. Which, I might add, I loved both sides of that, but I guess I'm just easy to please or something.
  7. Wow, why do people still waste time with stuff like this... Can't we all just be happy that Sony is finally doing horribly? Just kidding, it does make me kind of glad though. But come on people, I thought it was in highschool that you had to prove that you were mature by using profanity or smoking or sneaking into R rated movies. I think THAT is immature. I play "kiddie" games made for casual gamers all the time and I don't feel like I should be ashamed of it or admitting to it. I also play "gritty mature games for mature hardcore gamers" and I don't see a need to go around name calling people who don't like the same thing I do. Why do people even try to label games hardcore? The only genre I would consider hardcore anymore is text-based dungeon crawlers and turn-based WWII themed games. It takes devotion just to play those. Why can't people just shut up and understand you don't have to prove anything. I remember all the fratboys that started playing games when Halo came along and now most of them don't play anymore. But at the time, when they were all into it, they were the hardestcore gamers there ever was. Or so they said. I think it basically explains that anyone labeling themselves Hardcore is instantly a "poser". And anyone getting pissed off that someone is stealing their title or whatever are taking themselves waaaaaaay too seriously. I have yet to find a game on either Wii, 360, or PS3 that would actually be a hardcore game in and of itself. Now Contra without the Konami code... That was a hardcore game. Oh, and Halo 2 on Legendary...
  8. Whoa, you worked on Deus Ex? Sweet! What role did you have in the development?
  9. Hey everyone, I would like to buy these games, all in good working condition, and with box and instructions. Thanks! Animal Crossing Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean Beyond Good and Evil Donkey Konga 1,2 Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem F Zero GX Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Resident Evil 2, 3, Code Veronica Soulcalibur 2 Super Monkey Ball 2 Viewtiful Joe Red Hot Rumble Pikmin Wave Race: Blue Storm I`m looking around locally for these games, so I may remove some from my list. Thanks!!
  10. Awesome! I would be willing to give about $15 for Aria, maybe more. Like I said, it doesn't need to be complete, but I would much rather have the stand alone cart than the double pack with Harmony of Dissonance. I'm weird, I know, but I already have that one. I located a copy of Dawn of Sorrow today so no more looking for that one.
  11. I`m looking for both of these games, and would like Dawn of Sorrow to be like new with box and contents, but Aria of Sorrow would be fine if it was just cart. Thanks for any help!
  12. hey, I sent you a PM. Let me know if you are interested.
  13. I recently brought out Wario Land for the gameboy and forgot just how much I liked it. Then it got me thinking and I remember that I had never bought Wario Land for the Virtual Boy like I had intended. So Now I would really like to get a copy, just cart even, some where other than ebay preferably. Does anyone happen to have an extra they would like to sell? Or has anyone seen one recently? I would really appreciate any help with this!
  14. Hey, it's been awhile since I was here, so I`ll get back into things with a question. How is emulation on the DS? I am planning on getting a lite once it is available state-side, and I would like to be able to play Super Metroid and Mega Man X somewhere other than my SNES. How is the SNES emulation? Is the speed and sound fully supported? Thanks for your time
  15. the prices are way too high for software and hardware. $399 for the console? $60 for games? thats just stupid. I would like one, but I'd only pay about $200 for the console, and $50 for games
