  1. One keyboard screw mount, left side near the internal speaker. One mobo mount, center. Everything fits shut and snug, and the keyboard screw still screws in (the mount was just chipped). I'm debating opening it up again and super-gluing the mobo mount back in place (I have the piece that broke off) but I won't if I don't need to. The machine was not pristine, it has yellowing and some keyboard labels have been worn off, but everything else (electronic) works flawlessly.
  2. So I cleaned everything up with some soap and water, scrubbed the dirt out with a toothbrush, but in the process, I broke two screw mounts in half taking the top cover off. I guess the plastic was very very very brittle in those areas. Will the significantly impact the value/performance of the unit? I wouldn't think so, but you never know. Everything else works, and now it's clean, at least.
  3. Thank you kindly. That's exactly what I needed.
  4. So I opened up the top and indeed, there are three 16K sticks and the OS ROM. I would like to know though, if I get a sio2pc or sio2sd or flash cart etc, what games will work and what games require more memory. Is there a list anywhere so I can check the ram requirements of a cart or rom?
  5. Wow guys, the woman was about 70 years old who was selling this... I went to pick it up, and she had it set up playing pac-man. She bought it in 1982 for her children, and then just played it herself when they grew up. Probably the craziest thing I've seen. But she also gave me a whole box of manuals, pamphlets, and old atari catalogs and flyers. She even had some original receipts and warranty information! I'm happy, very very happy.
  6. Yeah, as soon as I get out of work today I'm opening it up! Everything is working well, I made sure to test it before I bought it. Now, if it does in fact have the stock amount of ram, where can I buy old parts or ram sticks? (Sorry if that was in the link I was sent, I can't read it all at work haha, have to reply fast.) Also, glad to see I was not ripped off. I'm excited.
  7. Hello all at AtariAge, As you can see, I just joined today. I was browsing my local craigslist for kicks, and came across a woman selling an Atari 800 and a lot of extras. I bargained with her and spent $80 for the lot. You can see the ad at this link. I have a few questions, now that I own an atari machine. It is my first. One, did I get ripped off? $80 seemed like a deal, but I couldn't find a price comparison. Two, I love the games I got with it, but I also love modding and would like to know what my options are for using 3rd party hacks to enable .com file support, and anything else that would be fun. To be frank, I know a lot about computers, but not a lot about the modern atari scene. Feel free to direct me to a place to learn.
