  1. From TechSpot: an algorithm no one can figure out?
  2. If anyone in New England has the chops and equipment to do this I'm more than happy to drop off, wait patiently, pick-up, and pay appropriately for a job well done.
  3. Hmm, point taken. I had a number of 800s shipped ~5 years ago without any issues. However, the abuse level for larger boxes has definitely gone up in the last ~18 months or so. Maybe it's a coincidence, but that was around the same time USPS started shipping for Amazon. Yes, location is outside Boston. I'd be up for driving a few hours to avoid shipping. Thanks!
  4. Have PM'ed--thank you for the referral!
  5. Big fan of your channel/work--thank you for everything you do for the Atari/retro community!
  6. Hi Everyone, I need help with this. Does anyone offer an Incognito install/install not working repair service? Not sure what's wrong and insufficient time to learn the skills to figure it out myself. Known good Atari 800 from B&C, fresh from static wrap Incognito board, no signs of life other than power LEDs. Thanks, -Jason
  7. Wow, this looks great--wish my first assembler project was half as good. If you're open to such things, +1 vote for a 'classic' mode which looks/plays/sounds as close to the original (arguably crappy) arcade experience as possible.
  8. Thank you for the suggestion. This one seems the closest: https://www.8bitclassics.com/product/atari-400-800-1050-ac-adapter/ I was hoping to find a power supply rated at 3-5 amps (vs. 1.5). From what I've read 1.5 is OK for stock but may not be enough for all configurations/mods. Thanks again!
  9. This is good to hear. I've read a few posts about transformers aging leading to higher voltages so was worried. Have read about this. D'oh--for some reason I read that as an AC to AC power supply. My mistake. Thank you!
  10. Hi Everyone, Hope this finds you well. I have a few of the 51 Watt power supplies from various sources, mostly eBay. They all of these seem to output @ ~10.8V AC per my multimeter. Is this too high for use with an 800 (guessing yes)? What is the best practice for addressing this--fix or replace? If fix, is there a "go to" article or blog post for this? If replace, Best pops up on Google but wondering if there is another vendor the community prefers? Finally, aesthetics aside is there any downside of going with one of these?: https://www.jameco.com/z/GST60A09-P1J-MEAN-WELL-9-Volt-6-Amp-54-Watt-3-Wire-Regulated-Switching-Table-Top-Power-Supply-2-1mm-Plug-Level-VI_2224374.html Many thanks in advance for any guidance. Regardless of how this pans out a big thank you to the many people who contribute their time and knowledge on the forums here.
  11. Thank you all for the replies. So many great memories related to the Atari 800.
  12. Hi Everyone, From the "good problems to have" department. A few years back I acquired an Atari 800 that may be new/unused. In any case, it was not turned on then or since. Is there a checklist of steps to take in a case like this? The risks I'm aware of include: Old capacitors on the power board Bad power supplies The keyboard also might be an issue, but seems like more of a time-sink vs. something that would cause damage. Thanks in advance for any insights!
  13. If it's not too late I would like one as well, please. Great stuff!
  14. The 'K' from the K&R C book! Few people have taught so many so much. Sounds like a great event.
