  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261514660180?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 I'm selling my "ADAM" label variation Venture. I paid $45 for it around a year ago (though it was in a lot with some common games). I hate to part with it, but I have some car repairs to pay for. It is one of the rarest publicly released games for the CV, though the game itself is super common the label is quite rare.
  2. I'm the same way. I always put my bids in at less than 10 seconds. I would have liked to get the Victory to go with my Venture CV+Adam label, but I can't afford it right now. I e-mailed the seller a few hours before the auction ended and asked if he'd sell me a few individual games if the lot didn't sell, but he said no.

It was listed at $60 and didn't get any bids until the very end. The rare "Victory" CV label is in there, although the seller obviously didn't know about it because he didn't specifically highlight it. Not much else there worth $76 +$9 so someone must have really wanted the "Victory". http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FLot-of-2-Colecovision-Atarisoft-Games-Defender-Galaxian-%2F130967705851%3Fpt%3DVideo_Games_Games%26hash%3Ditem1e7e4898fb I was watching this one, and it went pretty quickly. $25 plus shipping for Galaxian is a good deal for someone.
  4. I received my Coleco/Atari lot yesterday, and I wanted to share some pictures of the Venture CV/Adam label. The cartridge is in excellent condition. There is some bubbling on the front label from the "A" in Adam to the left edge of the label, and a little bubbling near where the front meets the top of the label. That's pretty common, as many of my CV carts have slight bubbling in the exact same place. The top edge where the label rounds the corner is perfect - no chipping or paper wear at all. I'm happy about that because that's the area that usually gets worn down the most, as it's where your hand rubs the label when inserting and removing the cartridge. The rest of the lot was pretty much average, however the CV Frogger cartridge is almost mint. That was a nice bonus as the one in my collection has a glue stained label. Now I can upgrade that one. The CV Q*Bert is also better than the one already in my collection. The manuals are nice, and add to the completeness of some of my games. Sorry if the pictures aren't all that sharp - my cell phone camera isn't that great.
  5. I regret not buying it when I saw it several times on the Opcode website for $40.
  6. I just dug my Expansion Module #1 (2600 adapter) out of storage and hooked it up. My 2600 games play perfectly on it. However, when I remove the 2600 game and put in a CV game (with the adapter still connected) the CV game will not run. I get either a screen of rolling interference-like video, or nothing at all. If I disconnect the adapter, the CV works normally. Is this supposed to happen? Is the CV incapable of playing CV games when the adapter is connected? It's been a LONG time since I've had my 2600 adapter hooked up, so maybe it's always been like this and I just don't remember. It's just cumbersome to have to constantly connect and disconnect the adapter. I don't have a working 2600 at the moment, so this is the only way I can play my 2600 games. I'd find it strange if it was really designed this way.
  7. You're right - I've always enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. It's far more fun hunting around tag sales & second hand stores than it is on Ebay, but it's feels good to score wherever it is.
  8. @above - thanks. Does anyone know if a different box was produced for the Venture CV/Adam variation? NAID's rarity list shows both the loose cartridge and the CIB as R9, leading me to believe the boxes were identical. After all, CIB's for ANY game are always rarer than just the loose cartridges simply because the boxes in the 80's weren't designed as storage, and most were discarded. I'm quite happy with the price I paid, and the items I got. The Venture looks to be in excellent condition as well - I'm really looking forward to seeing it in person. A few weeks ago I bought a Donkey Kong CV/Adam variation, and until I saw that one I didn't even know about the different labels. It was that purchase that made me do some research and learn more about the labels. Now, I'm going to be on the lookout for the rest of the variations - maybe I'll get lucky again and find a Victory CV label. None of it will be for resale in the near future. I plan to keep the Venture for a while, and most of the other games are for my collection. Only a few of the 2600 games are duplicates of what I already have, and none of them would command a price to make it worth selling them.
  9. I knew that going in. I understand that an actual rare game will always be more desirable than a common game with a rare label variation. It's OK with me though. The way I see it, I paid $3 - $4 each (including the Venture) for each of the items I needed (which also included a couple of the Atari games). My local retro store sells CV games for $3 (on the few occasions they get them in), and I was interested in the manuals as well. Buying individually on Ebay is WAY too expensive simply because it costs $2 - $3 just for shipping. Any extra value the Venture has is just a nice bonus.
  10. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F281107953135%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT%26_trksid%3Dp3984.m1439.l2649 I just bought this lot of Atari & Colecovision games and manuals. I noticed the "Venture" cartridge with the Colecovision/Adam label variation, and that's primarily why I wanted it. I was the only bidder at $9.99 until the last few minutes when several more bids came in. I was hoping nobody else spotted it, but apparently others did. I've never seen a sale of just the Venture cartridge, so there's no history as to what it's actually worth, but it is listed as an R9 on NAID's list, which makes it one of the three rarest "games" for the CV. I say "games" because the game itself is not rare, rather it's just a label variation of a common game. Luckily, I needed some of the other games in the lot for my collection as well. Even though they're all common games, finding 10+ that I need at one time is pretty good as CV games are pretty scarce in the second hand stores around here. Plus, there's some nice manuals, and I'm a sucker for completeness, as well as the nostalgia factor. Anyway, considering I actually needed many of the other items in the lot, $45 (including shipping) seemed like a decent price for everything. Plus, now I finally have a super rare item in my collection.
  11. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that the CV's carts were limited to 32K by the machine - I figured that bigger ROM chips were not produced simply due to the prohibitive price that they would have cost back then.
  12. I've been playing ColecoVision since I first got one when I was 10. I remember reading about the Super Game Module back then, and the gameplay possibilities it promised. After the crash in 1984, I never really thought about it again until recently when I read about Opcode's new SGM. Maybe this has been addressed before, but I have a couple of questions: -What were the specs of the original SGM? While I remember reading about it 30 years ago, I don't remember specifically how it enhanced the CV's capabilities. I'm very curious to know if Eduardo's SGM closely mirrors what would have been available in the CV's day. -The Donkey Kong Arcade port for the SGM looks incredible. Could a port as close as that been possible on a stock ColecoVision if cartridge memory weren't an issue? I know that most ROM's in that era were 16 to 32K. If 1MB (or so) was feasible, how much better was the CV actually capable of?
  13. I'm pretty knowledgeable about 2600 games. The ones I got are super common like Pac Man, ET, Defender, Kaboom, River Raid, Home Run, Circus Atari, and a few others.
  14. I got my first 5200 a few days ago. I was at Game Exchange and I saw someone trying to trade in a 5200 and some games. Because Game exchange pays only store credit for old Atari games, and he wanted cash, he was ready to walk out with the 5200. I offered him $8 and he took it. I got a 4 port 5200 with no controllers or hookups, 6 common games, as well as 18 2600 games he couldn't trade in either. Unfortunately, I've never had a 5200 before, so I realized when I got home that hooking it up isn't quite that simple (or cheap). I know that I need a switchbox, power adapter, and at least one controller to make it usable. I have a couple of questions if anybody could help me out: -Once I have the switchbox, do I need another cable to connect the 5200 to the TV? Or, does the wire from the switchbox connect directly to the TV? I already have a coaxial (F-type) to female RCA adapter which I use to connect my Colecovision. -I've read that the 5200 can use an Indus GT power supply (which I have). Is this true? Unfortunately, my impulse purchase may end up costing me more than if I just bought a complete 5200 setup. I don't really have the money right now to buy the pieces I need, but if you guys could tell me exactly what I need, I'll keep a lookout for them. Also, it appears that the tape was never removed from the silver "Atari 5200" panel on top of the unit. I scraped some off with a razor, but it left a dry residue behind. The old tape is yellowing and cracked, and I'd like to take it off if I can get rid of the 30 year old residue underneath. As far as the 2600 games, I already have 12 of the 18. However, since I would gladly take store credit at Game Exchange, I'll trade in the duplicates there for a few bucks to offset my outlay.
