I love old computers and consoles of all types, along with old radios, watches, and cars. On the computer side, I grew up with some VIC-20s and an IBM PC, eventually graduating to a 386, a 486, and then a bunch of Wintel machines. However, I always coveted a Commodore 64, Apple IIGS, and a bunch of other stuff - happily, I have been able to collect most of those machines.

On the console side, the first console I actually owned was an original XBox, but I had tantalizing visits to friends who owned Ataris, NES, and Genesis consoles. I hadn't heard of a Vectrex until recently, but now it's maybe my favorite of them all.

  1. I am interested in a Fujinet for my IIc. While I'm happy to see Javier (a gem in the AII community) has files for a 3D-printed case, I would also be interested in purchasing a case. Is there anybody who sells them? By the way, I'd also be interested in a Fujinet for my A800 - they just appear to be out of stock everywhere.
  2. Hi all, I have read the beginning and ending pages of this thread and am a little perplexed - apologies in advance if I am asking a dumb question. I have a bone-stock TI99/4A and have a newly purchased FlashROM 99 that came with a SD card with what appear to be the "Starter Pack" files as called out in the original post in this thread. They all work great! However, some of my favorites (Parsec, TI Invaders) are not included in that starter pack, so I found this thread and navigated to the WHTECH ftp site and found the excellent atariage.zip also in that same FlashROM99 directory. That file had all the games I found myself missing, and I dropped them onto my SD card as well. They show up in the FROM99 menu on the TI, but none of them work; only the original files work. 1. I thought - maybe these require a 32K expansion, but then again the original Parsec works just fine on an unexpanded TI99. 2. I thought - maybe these use some hardware method that FROM99 cartridge can't handle; but then again these are in the FlashROM99 directory at WHTECH - I wouldn't expect them to be there if they were incompatible with the cartridge. So maybe it's just operator error somehow. Any help would be appreciated - and again, apologies in advance if I'm asking a dumb question.
  3. Score! I just got outbid on the other console and am purchasing this one. I am a little bummed that I missed out on the Telegames sixer - such a pretty console.
  4. Damn - saw this *after* putting in a bid on another A/V-modded 2600. If I get outbid, though, I will definitely buy yours. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Hi all, I recently purchased the Adam 100MB IDE/CF, and very helpfully, it comes with a boot floppy and a boot digital tape. However, I don't have a floppy or a functional tape drive. :-) What I DO have, however, is the Atarimax Ultimate SD cartridge, and I've hard that we can put the boot ROM for the IDE/CF on the Atarimax. However, I'm not really sure where to get the file or where on the Atarimax SD it would need to go. I've done some searching but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for yet. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?
  6. I'm not sure what happened to my original link, apologies to all! Unfortunately, I think the replacement product posted above will work. That's the Jr., which is 14 inches wide; the one I used is the large (30336) which is 18 inches wide. Here's another link to the product, hopefully this one lasts a little longer. Here
  7. Well, thanks! Just to make sure it's clear, though, I don't have any financial involvement with this stand - I don't make them or sell them. Though I guess I'm financially involved now since I have to buy another to replace the VIC-20s that I stole away.
  8. I have been looking in vain for a monitor stand wide and tall enough to clear my Adam, but recently found one that works nicely. I bought a few of these stands for my TI99/VIC-20/C64, and decided to give it a try on the Adam despite the dimensions not looking large enough. To my surprise, it's just about perfect; the beveled sides of the Adam fit right between the legs, and the stand just barely the top of the Adam's case. The result is that the stand doesn't dwarf the Adam (as it frankly kind of does for the other computers I bought it for). Anyway, this may not be the most riveting subject, but since I had been searching for a solution for a little while, I thought I'd share.
  9. This thing is so cool that I'll probably buy one, even though I have an original console with an Everdrive, The box, the form factor, the surprisingly good list of games, the HDMI out, the controller that can be used with a Wiimote ... all great. It's perfect for putting on the shelf, or hooking up to a secondary TV. Heck, maybe I'll even just keep it around to future-proof for a distant future when my NES dies and/or when I don't have a TV with composite in. I understand where the people are coming from who are complaining that it's emulation (judging by the save states), or that it doesn't have an SD card or cartridge slot. Yes, having the original chipset and SD card/cartridge functionality would have been cool, but I don't think any of those things were realistic. a) they would likely have added bulk and expense to something that is meant to be small and inexpensive, for the purpose of adding things that the majority of customers wouldn't care about; and b) it's Nintendo. I'm surprised Nintendo is even making this.
  10. Thanks! Yes, I kind of picked the consoles that I played back in the day - in the 8-bit era it was the NES, but in the 16-bit era it was the Genesis. I have basically zero time on the SNES (including emulation) so I think I have some fun discoveries in front of me. :-) This is also the answer to why I don't have any Playstations (as asked above). It's a glaring omission in my collection, but the truth is that I never have really been part of the Playstation community. I was a PC gamer during the first Playstation era, I was an Xbox gamer (and my friends were Xbox gamers as well) during the PS2 era, and I continued on to be a 360 and Xbone gamer from then. I know the Playstations have fantastic libraries, but I just haven't ventured into that world yet - and frankly there are so many games that it'd be daunting to get started.
  11. Great topic! I have recently picked up two of my most-wanted consoles, the Fairchild Channel F and the Vectrex, so I'm feeling pretty satiated at the moment. However, while I don't *need* them, I've been pretty strongly tempted by the Bally Astrocade, the Sega Master System, and the Dreamcast. I just don't really have the space, since most of my collection is computer-based. The Astrocade is just a bit too fragile for me, I don't need the SMS since I have a Genesis with Everdrive (but it's just such a great-looking system!), and the Dreamcast is a little modern for my collecting bug (but it's so great!). I'm sort of mildly drawn to systems like the 3DO, but ultimately I don't have much nostalgia for those. My current consoles: Fairchild Channel F (System II) - multicart on the way Atari VCS - with Harmony flashcart Vectrex - with Richard F. flashcart Colecovision (well, the Coleco Adam) - with Atarimax flashcart Nintendo NES - with Everdrive flashcart Sega Genesis (first gen) - with Everdrive flashcart XBox (first gen) XBox 360 Nintendo Wii Xbox One No, no Playstations.
  12. Hi everybody, I just received my Fairchild Channel F System II in the mail, and while it has obviously been used, it is in great shape and included lots of original documentation. Just on the off chance anybody is interested, here are some photos of the unboxing. Not a new unboxing, but still pretty cool for such an old system. http://imgur.com/a/Duajg
  13. I am interested! I'd like have the Hello Channel F image incorporated into mine as well. So do I pay immediately through Paypal? Go through PM?
