  1. You mean even the original Sega Genesis mk 1602 is junk? As I said it seems the brand of CDR seems to have an effect which is even more puzzling.
  2. That’s why I tested with a Genesis/Megadrive 1 power supply which is a nominal perfect match to the Atari Jaguar one I still have issues, there’s something more to it imho but yeah I get the point. I could lower the ripple, assuming it’s an issue, by adding a suitable capacitor (say a 16v 1000uF or alike) on the JagCD side and see if that helps … but it is weird given the Jag itself does not seem to care.
  3. Tested with a new Chinese 9v 2A and it’s much better except with one game … Gorf which is on a Sony CDR instead of Memorex like the rest of my burns (I had to load Battlemorph twice though, first time got the question mark), even the Etsy WTR worked. As I was at it I tried a Genesis 1 adapter (9v 1.2A) and it also fails at Gorf and some Memorex needed a second try, none of that with the Jaguar power supply, all the burns just work with it. The 2 pressed CDs I have (Alice… and Simone) both work perfectly every time no matter the JagCD power supply I use, so it seems CDRs are the ones affected with WTR just happening to be one of those more impacted … if I have time I can read the ATIP and compare, I also have a few Taiyo Yuden around I could burn to see if they work any better with the various power supply … after all there are only a dozen JagCD games. Is there a guide to calibrate the JagCD laser? Maybe raising a little the power could help. As to how a seemingly working power supply can in any way impact the laser pickup is beyond me, if I open the unit a may just as well recap it.
  4. Would a multibin cue file reconstitute the markers or are they all over the place? (I would assume there’s one per track no?) I tried the orig WTR cd that I converted on my real JagCD and had no issue (no locking), it could still a bad capture given the Atari CD format, so we know my Jag with my JagCD and copy of WTR (it’s some burn from Etsy) works fine (bar using the “right” power brick with the JagCD but that’s another issue).
  5. I have an official Jaguar power brick 9v 1.2A and a Chinese 9v 2A. With Orion original Alice mom rescue (looks like pressed to me) it doesn’t matter which power brick powers the JagCD and the Jag but with WTR (looks like a burn plus light scribe top) if the JagCD is powered by the Chinese 2A it simply doesn’t recognize the game (question mark), if instead I use the Atari 1.2A it works no issue. I didn’t have time to test other CDs, the only other legit I purchased was Simone, the rest are all old burns … I ordered a second Chinese 2A to see what happens if I swap that in or use 2 2A we’ll see. Right now the Jag alone doesn’t seem to care if I use the 1.2A or the 2A … so weird.
  6. @SainT installed new FW, and both Vidgrid and WTR do run. I completed 1 video in Vidgrid the Aerosmith one (its' the top left one) and it worked fine ... for WTR I tried Arcade, completed Hungary in "I'm Sloooow" difficulty level, placed 4 watched the end animation and it got stuck on a black screen after, rebooted, retried same as above placed first this time and skipped the animation and I was able to play the second circuit after Hungary, did not finish it and instead paused and exit but it got stuck at a blue car image ... but it's much better than before at least it gets this far, maybe other can chime how far they can get. So thank you for the update, the memory track also seem to work.
  7. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804229418640.html?_randl_currency=USD&src=google&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US The 500g prebuilt with DC modded (need special bios to boot) seems to be around 180 … it seems there are cheaper sellers as well … but that’s the ballpark.
  8. Why? Do you even have the modem? How about the dial up simulator? Do you really really believe you’d do much on line player on the sat? (that’s just fomo) And I don’t think anyone is looking at building anything like that. (neither lock-in nor y-splitter and I seriously doubt the saroo project would look at adding extra hw for that) If you find 9 friends, 2 Saturn multi-taps and 9 extra controllers, you can play 10 players simultaneous on screen Saturn bomberman … lol
  9. Given the proto board in the video sports a Cyclone V SX which matches the SE in the DE-10 Nano and in addition it has transceivers I fail to see how it could cost less. Aka I cannot understand how they can support any scale ... maybe there was a pellet of these things sitting around? Granted we are not talking huge numbers so maybe they secured a few thousands??? At any rate the price of the SoC per see is supposed to be higher than the SE in the DE-10 Nano, plus there's the board and all the other components ... You mention "ewaste and have been cleaned up and reballed" ... how sustainable is that and why would not Analogue tap into the same source? Too much hassle? Too much support? (well then these MiSTer clones would go through the same issues). Even their 128MB RAM module is so much cheaper? Are the other vendors overpriced? Or maybe it's some volume discount????
  10. Wonder if the issue is that the mega ste had 3 serial ports instead of 1, maybe MiSTer does not cover for those but the sw probes nonetheless and trips. Just speculation but given STeroid mode works (which seems to be always on 16mhz + turbobus and MegaSTe core is a switchable version of it afaik) that could explain the behavior. Aside the modem.cpx and serial.cpx I didn’t notice any other issue with the mega ste core, if anything it’s a little faster than a real one due to turbobus which is not a cache and speeds up all ram.
  11. So DE-10 uses Cyclone V SE code : 5C SE B A6 U23 I 7 Squinting at the proto board he seems to be using an Cyclone V SX code 5C SX F C6 ... (followed maybe by C6 U23 I7N can't make all of it) ... I am sure some more sleuth would get the full product code [note it matches the SE version in LE count and pretty much everything else so as to why that one is cheaper I do not know given it has 2 transceivers] Link to Cyclone V product codes: https://cdrdv2-public.intel.com/666729/cv_51001-683694-666729.pdf Even more: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/base-product/intel/544/5CSXFC6/103089 the cheapest single unit price is about 300+ for chips in that family so definitely something is afoot if they can offer the board with the chip at that price .... all the power to them.
  12. … nice job by the repairer. How’s the rest of the lo(o)t going?
  13. Done, same issue, tested also SuperTOS 2.06 all the same. Interesting in STEroid mode (which as far as perf go looks identical to me to MegaSTE and also according to GemBench) and TOS 2.06 it works. So maybe it are the CPXs (both serial and modem) that upon MSTe detection do something different? [via SysInfo I noticed that MSTe mode + TOS 1.62 is not recognized as Mega, the _MCH cookie is set to 00010000 check https://tho-otto.de/hypview/hypview.cgi?url=%2Fhyp%2Fcompend.hyp&charset=UTF-8&index=204 ... not sure if TOS1.62 is supposed to recognize MSTe at all, it's a good 2y too early for that].
