  1. Looks like Sal is doing a version of "NO GAME FOR YOU!". I think your whole attitude led up to him making this decision. If I had copyrighted game material, I certainly will not give you a copy to you guys looking over the history of the crap you posted on this thread. WTF kind of response did you expect to get from SAL. It is not too hard to understand why he told you that,
  2. KJMANN and PETEYM5 should not be replying to those crying about the price, digital downloads, or floppy disk version because it just adds 'fuel to the fire'. Only reply to questions directly about the program and where to buy it. They replied by taking action by putting Venture onto a different 16K cartridge, black Atari plastic + metal shell and lowering the price. It was kept so it can be played on an Atari 800 with 48K and up. From what I understand, the AA store was also approached to produce some Venture cartridges. A few beta cartridges were sent out, not sure what happened.
  3. For those of you that did not figure it out, the game on cassette announcement is a joke. I do not think anyone will release software on cassette in this day in age. Consider cartridges load instantly or inflate programs + data faster than it takes to load from disk. Have to consider cartridges are much more durable than other media like disks. I know other people do games on disks because they do not have access to EPROM burners and hardware. Plus Atari Venture is superior to the Coleco, 2600, or Intellivsion versions. Need newer hardware to do a better looking game. Oh yes, KJMANN did contact the original people about doing Venture and Tempest on the 8-bit, the replay was they did not care what people do on the Atari 8-bit because they know probably won't sell much.
  4. The version on the Atari 8-bit has a challenger mode that has more monsters and a 4th level. Something not in the Coleco, 2600, or Arcade. PeteyM5 and Kjmann repackaged the game for us on a cheaper 16K cartridge so Video61 can be sale for $40 instead of $50. That was because people were complaining about it at $50. Video61 even warned PeteyM5 that does not matter how cheap you make a game people will complain, even if they can get it for free. They seem to have closed the book on Venture and busy with other projects. You won't see Venture ported to other mediums anytime soon. This Secretum Labyrinth series seems to be Venture + 2600 Adventure on steroids.
  5. From what I understand, the goal is to sacrifice nothing using inflater. The estimated ratio is around 1.5 to 1. It should be possible with rewriting some stuff. All the bank switching code is being removed. Game Programmers have been downsizing 6502 games since the days of the 2600. Only expected difference may be some pauses as stuff gets inflated. Found in other threads, PeteyM5 is asking for help getting samples for other future games. Probably nothing will be announced until they know it works. V61 still has a few more on the Williams Cart available which is the stable version of the game now.
  6. Video61/Aarisales had been honorable with paying royalties to the developers of prior projects. I know they considered other distributors and got warnings about doing business with them. One example is Albert/Atariage, he had been considered as a co-distributor at one point. For some reason, they decided to only use V61. Issues known with Albert is that he is sometimes slow and takes on too many projects. Sometimes, I see several 2600 games in the works. Seems like GR8 is no longer doing games. They also stopped doing games on Atarimax carts because a few of them lost memory for the game. Happens if the cartridge is not put in properly, and 2 contacts cross connect, like the write enable gets shorted out with another contact, and no more game. Wont happen with EPROM cartridges. If you want to contact Peteym5 and KJMANN12 and make suggestions, go ahead. If you are worried about doing out in public, either use the private messenger, or email them.
  7. Venture port on the Atari 8-bit is very well done. Took advantage of the 8-bit features like multicolored graphics, extra player missile graphics, and four channel sound. PeteyM5 and KJMANN12 did a great job porting this to the 8-bit. Please contact Video61 for more information. Maybe the $50 price tag turned a few people off, and porting onto a 16K cartridge may improve sales. In these times of a slow economy and many having problems getting money, it may be a good ideal. I would not expect a drop under $40 because Atarisales adds a $8.50 fee for anything under $40. These cartridges are easier to make, smaller memory chips, no bank switching stuff. Goes into that common dark brown and metal cartridge shell. There is some thinking going on making more games to fit into 16K after the Secretum Labyrinth cartridge is done. Can't say more because people will be getting stupid or want games for free. My advice to PeteyM5 and KJMANN12 just don't pay attention to them.
  8. Wow I just bought this game from Video61 and I have to say you guys did a great job at making a great game on the Atari 8-bit. Nice graphics, color, and sound and taking advantage of Atari graphics. Nice to choose options of how to shoot and choose to play something similar to the Coleco or Arcade version, or play this "Challenger Mode" which add more monsters to each dungeon. require something extra to get through some of them, and a fourth map screen. Over all it is a great game done on the Atari 8-bit. What do you guys plan to do next?
