  1. I would definitely recommend also checking on lemon64.com which is of course for the Commodore 64.
  2. Here's a good one. Almost more art than video game, which is probably why they didn't quite do too well, but you have to respect the work I think. http://www.filfre.net/2014/01/the-merry-pranksters-of-automata/
  3. Judging by eBay Electronic Games definitely has a fair amount of value.
  4. Yep, Way of the Avatar was the clue book and not included in the game box; had to order separately from Origin Systems
  5. Nope, though wish I had a DSLR since my gf (who took the pictures) is a fine arts graduate and great photographer; sadly it was cell phone pics only I had the OUYA t-shirt on. Here's a couple of pics for now, more to come.
  6. Damnit! I wish I knew any of you guys, I'd have loved to get some drinks with you. Sadly I'm pretty introverted, so don't bother chatting anyone up really. Drat. Still, what a great time it was. Pictures soonish
  7. Have a bunch of photo's, will try to post in coming day(s). Great event, to briefly sum up!
  8. They sometimes to, but like any of their 80's computers/consoles it's hit or miss. One time when I was there an employee told me that their building is actually either Atari's original HQ or a warehouse for Atari from way way back. Unsure if that's true.
  9. Not really sure where to put this or if it's even appropriate, so feel free to move. Anyway, for anyone in the SF bay area.... Saturday, June 14 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunnyvale Public Library Program Room All day - Play original Atari games in the Library Program Room and Teen Area. 11 a.m. - Dan Kramer, Atari engineer, will talk about how he championed the creation of the Trak-Ball controllers for the Atari 2600. Library Program Room. 2 p.m. - Al Alcorn will talk about the early days of Atari and his creation of PONG. Adult Fiction Area.
  10. The fact that only Gates and Jobs are on the cover should be a clue that this is a very revisionist look at the industries origins. It isn't hyperbole to say that this is so. Imagine that Russia somehow goes away as a nation and 10 years from now a documentary on WWII fails to mention the role of the Soviets. No one is bashing Apple here, they played a very important role. It's just that they and Gates weren't the only ones and, I think it's quite easy to make the case, Commodore played as important a role (sometimes more so) and if you're going to peddle a book/documentary as "history" then it needs to be, well, historical
  11. I've also seen Triumph of the Nerds, and it glosses over many things, attributes many things to Apple and Microsoft that shouldn't be, or at least they merely shared in bringing these things about along with other companies, etc. If your only source of information is that documentary I highly recommend digging a bit more. One of the very first video game companies, and a very successful one, for example was Adventure International. And that companies first products were for the TRS-80; not the Apple II. Stargunner, you're about spot on with your post except that in Europe it went from CP/M for business to the PET and then to DOS. The PET was huge in Europe for business, though failed spectacularly in the U.S.
  12. Very interesting, thanks for such great info on this! Being an ex Atari employee from the 2000's when Infogrames controlled them I'd actually suggest that Infogrames lacked basic business acumen, at least during the 2000's. They are kaput now, afaik, and Atari is back starting Dec. 2013 but fully on their own without their French puppet masters
