  1. I believe the one I am using I got off a post here. I also tried another one that would not work at all, so I figured that one for the XL. But it does work in either slot. Just not with Basic and MW2 at the same time. Both carts are good. They play both 8k and 16k games as well as Basic just fine.
  2. Thanks for your reply. That was the first thing I did. LOL The manual states to put basic in the left slot and MWII in the right slot and the prompt should show the Monkey Wrench II and basic are active.
  3. Hello All! Everyone has been so helpful in my learning and repairing the 800 that recently came into my possession! Thank you all! I am wondering if I have an issue. I built a couple 8 bank carts. I put basic v1.0 on one and Monkey Wrench II on the other. My understanding is that I could put MWII in the right slot and basic in the left to get the added features of MWII in basic? The carts seem to work fine on their own, basic works in the left slot and MWII works in either slot (boots up to the machine language monitor). But when I put basic in the left slot and MWII in the right, I get a black screen. Am I missing something? Thank you, Ron
  4. Thank you both so much for your speedy responses! This forum always amazes me! I found a lot of 5 nos on "thaBay" for $6.00.
  5. Hello all! I have been working on my newly acquired 800. Half the keys do not work. With help reading a couple posts here, I tested the mechanical switch on the board for a key that is not working and it's fine. I tested most of the traces on the back of the keyboard and they all seem good as well. I tested the ribbon cable, same there. I read a post about swapping the 4051s and see if the working/non working keys move. They in fact do. I tested both chips in my TL866 and one testes good while the other does not. So, I found some online replacement chips and am wondering if they are compatible? The original is an RCA CD4051BEXV and the replacement one is a TI CD4051BE. Will this TI chip work as a replacement? Thank you, Ron
  6. It's a little dirty as well, but no rips, tears or stains. So it's a winner. Funny thing is, I have over a dozen old PC's and the only two I have with dust covers are Atari's? My 1040STf also has one and one for the monitor (SC1224). Commodores, Amigas, TI, ZX, Apples and Macs don't have one. 🙊 Thanks, Ron
  7. Understood. Wire are now clipped. I might be able to use the cords somewhere else. I tested it and it's putting out less than a volt anyway. I'm guessing it's dead. Now, anyone need a manual, in very good shape, for an 800XL? Thanks, Ron
  8. The top of the case is slightly darker than the bottom, but it's hardly noticeable. No cracks, chips or scratches anywhere to be seen. So that's all a plus. I do have a couple questions (half way through the first install video). With all the mod/bodge wires, can you take it back to stock just by removing the Incognito and putting the original cards back in it, or do the mods have to be removed? Thanks, Ron
  9. It is very dirty. Ewwe... I'll clean it up when I get a PSU for it and know that it actually works or not. It does have the 3 16k modules in it. I kinda feel bad setting it on my C128. 😂 But that TI is sitting on my C64. 😮
  10. Thanks for the reply! Yea, it is kinda what I figured. The score came with some XL stuff also and it says "To Computer" on it.
  11. LOL. Would be funny if it was. This one came from The Great White North. Do you know, is that the original RF cable? It might not be.
  12. Following... I just picked up one with the same symptoms. I can press the reset, 8 and 9. 0 through 7 do nothing. I am going to remove the membrane and check continuity on all the traces, but those stupid retaining clips are a PITA!
  13. Recent pickup! An Atari 800 with dust cover and manual. An Atari 2600 with manual, power supply and 11 games (a couple label upgrades for me). An Atari 7800 with an RF cable and two games. A Magnavox Odyssey 2 boxed with power supply and 7 boxed games with manuals. The lot also came with a cool Jakks Atari Paddle PNP, a Quickshot and two Wico Command Control sticks (my favorite). Oh, and an XL power supply and manual (no use for these). So far I have been able to test everything except the 800 and they all work mostly. I need to fix the membrane on the Odyssey keyboard. Ron
  14. @Vyvyan B. LOL Yea, I'll get a proper PSU for it. It will sit nicely on the same table as my Commodores, Amigas and right next to my 1040st. I don't believe in painting anything, these machines earned the scars they show! Thank again, everyone, for the comments. Ron
