  1. I've just re-measured the voltages on the floppy power cables, and this is what I'm getting: STfm: ------------ RED-BLK = 5V BLUE-BLK = 12V Falcon: ------------ RED-BLK = 12V BLUE-BLK = 5V The Falcon has an Epson SMD-300 floppy drive and the STfm has an Epson SMD-480L
  2. Hello, I've recently acquired an Atari Falcon and the floppy drive seems to be bad on it (it starts reading floppies, but it gives a media not readable error, and then the floppy and main LED lights blink continuously). Tried to replace it with my HxC drive, but for some weird reason the power wires seem to be reversed (5V on the red one, not on blue). When switching the wires I get power on the HxC but the computer does not load anything (keeps saying the drive A has issues). Anyone experienced this or should the HxC work the same way as it does on the ST? I am looking into buying an IDE CF drive but from what I've read I need to load the HD driver from floppy. Is this the case ? What are my options ? Thanks
  3. Hi Did you order the springs from stocksprings.drtempleman.com ? Do you know the exact model/item number that works on the Quickshot 2 Turbo ? Thanks
  4. Hello, I am looking into getting an Atari PC3 machine but it does not come with keyboard/mouse. Do you know if the keyboard is proprietary or would other XT keyboards work ? The mouse seems to be identical to the ST mouse (just re-branded as "PCM1"). I don't have a CGA/EGA monitor, would I be able to use a Commodore 1084S in CGA mode ? Thanks for any info you can provide. PS: I didn't find any "Atari PC" forums around here. If there is a more suitable forum please move this question there.
  5. Ok I finally managed to take the keys out. For some reason the previous owner decided to glue the key caps onto the switches....
  6. Great thread ! I got a Type 2 on an 800XL. I am trying to remove all keys to clean them out, but they don't come out. How hard should I try pulling on them ? I don't want to break the switches.. Thanks
  7. Thanks everyone for all the info. Will try cleaning it out this weekend and see how it goes. I'll post "before and after" pics.
  8. How easy is to remove the Mylar and pcb ? Do I need to "break" anything or it's just held by screws ? Once I remove that, will I be left with a "plastic-only" keyboard skeleton ? Also, is it hard to put back on ?
  9. This keyboard needs much more cleaning than that...
  10. I thought I did search in the Forum, but only got this thread as the result. Probably a selection error on my part. In any case, the search didn't yield any results on how to clean and dismantle the keyboard of an 800XL. I am looking for something like this tutorial, but specific for 800XL: Thanks
  11. Your search for the term dishwasher returned 1 results this thread
  12. Hi, I recently purchased an Atari 800XL which is extremely dirty and in need of a good cleaning. Is there a video available on how to safely do this (especially for the keyboard) ? I found quite a few videos on Youtube for my Commodore 64, but none for the Atari. Do the keys just "pop out" like the C64 ? Thanks!
  13. That image I see in your video is exactly how I see any PAL device connected to my NTSC-only TV This is what I use to display PAL on my NTSC TV: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-RCA-AV-to-HDMI-Converter-Adapter-Composite-AV2HDMI-Converter-1080P-DVD-J-/151683142490?hash=item235105135a:g:9-sAAOSw3xJVVxb4 It works absolutely great, and it's dirt cheap. I use this little device for all my Atari/Commodore/Sega...etc systems to hook them up to my NTSC TV, and it works great with PAL signals. It's sharp and clear.
  14. Any idea how much is this worth ? I can't find much info about it on the net and there's nothing on Ebay... It comes with a dongle, floppy, manuals, box. Thanks!
