So after swapping the 9918A with another one, same issue. Testing the "bad 9918A" on another motherboard and it worked without an issue so it seems my problem lies a bit deeper.

I have an extra TI99 that has a serious issue and I'm not sure where to start. As far as I can test without replacing every one of them the 4116's all seem to be fine. I've redone a few other boards with 4116s video issues but this seems to be elsewhere. Basically all I get is static garbage moving fast across the screen. My first though is a bad video out and sometimes I get sound and sometimes nothing. I recorded a short video of it, pardon the crappy S5 being held shakily as I toggle the power on and off a few times. The cables/power adapter being used all work on another system with no issues and the game used has no impact on the result.

I'll take another look then but an initial inspection they all appeared good. Figured those wires were a modder, the soldering job looks like what I would be able to do on it. Thanks!

I recently picked up a JVC X-Eye and after fixing the simple lid switch issue for the CD drive I came across another one where the audio is very quiet. Both channels appear to be playing audio, however I need to turn the TV up to maximum to get what would be average audio levels. Looking at the bottom of the unit I can see two wires that appear to be a previous owner's attempt at something. I've attached pictures if anyone knows what mod they were trying or why these wires are here in the first place. The fact the wires appear to be attached to the white audio output and the AV out section. Before I go and just remove the cables I wanted to see if anyone who knows more than my nothing about this thing had a better recommendation.
