  1. I always forget you lucky Europeans have SCART on everything. Out here in the USA we never got RGB anything.
  2. AFAIK the Best Electronics VGA adapter allows color output, I think they have some sort of trickery going on in there or those monochrome adapters might just support color on monitors that can deal with the ST's signal, but that's very unlikely. There are options for color VGA that don't involve soldering, but you'll have to be willing to pay for either an adapter that does color or a cheaper adapter and a unit to convert the signal. Google will tell you all about it if you search for "atari st color vga"!
  3. Not being a Mega ST owner, I can't comment on the first question, but there are pictures around of people who have Goteks and Lotharek HXC floppy emulators in their ST's. I've also seen many pics of Amiga owners doing this although I don't own anything Amiga. The Ultrasatan can be used externally with an ACSI cable. I have an external cased ultrasatan with the ACSI cable, but I have been thinking about selling the ACSI cable and case and internalizing the UltraSatan. If aesthetics (not hacking up the case) is your primary concern you might be happier keeping it external. I would assume the fan could be replaced by any modern PC case fan? Just measure and see if it's mountable the same way case fans are. If it is, you can get a nice fan that pushes lots of air without making too much noise cheaply.
  4. A bit late to reply to this thread, but can't imagine a ton, as it's possible to get a Cubase dongle+disks for under or around $150 and AFAIK Tentrax went on to become Steinberg Pro24 but I could be wrong, most likely you won't get rich off of it but someone who has Tentrax format song files might want it to put their songs on something more useful
  5. Just in case anyone finds this thread thru google or whatever, i have a XRGB 2+, my SCART connection is fine on it. it has to be a problem with OP's computer.
  6. Nothing is "emulator only" except for maybe weird romhacks that are designed to exploit the capabilities of emulators, such as weird NES or SNES romhacks but no, the most you might have to do is mount a disk image
  7. exxosuk - just wanted to let you know that a few years before i ended up registering on this site, i rebuilt my own st's PSU after finding your site on google. it was a USA 120V ST, it looked identical to the ones you show so i would imagine it's only a difference of the transformer. i haven't recapped my STe's PSU yet but I want to get that replaced at some point or another. i haven't seen though if there are new PSU replacement options that are more efficient than the stock ST's PSU? last time i was testing the PSU on that ST i got careless and zapped myself, so I'm a little hesitant to break out the STe's PSU aside from that i would suggest OP either replace the floppy with a Gotek flashed with HXC or get an ultrasatan. i love my ultrasatan!
