  1. Yup..and for whoever else wants one. However, I'm not starting a box business. To me a digital copy/print just doesn't make me warm and fuzzy inside. If I could I'd make reproduction consoles too, but let's just stick with reality and boxes for now
  2. The last person to admit E.T. wasn't a stellar game is Howard Scott Warshaw
  3. Having bought several games from EBAY NIB, this is not always the case. Several issues come to mind. It's really rare to get a 10+ box. Normally new games have dings, or are crushed a bit. There is also the problem of the box fading over time. My pac man NIB , the sides faded so badly you can hardly read the words pac man. (This is a real one too!). I just bought a pack of 10 games that were case fresh. They look great, but they have tiny things here and there. Also many old Atari game boxes have this faint noise that appears on the white text. It's something that happens to aged items. So while I do have many minty fresh original Atari games, the options for buying a perfect ADVENTURE (For example) is drying up. I know for the average person, printing your own boxes is a stupid idea. I'll admit its a stupid idea. However, I never said I wasn't stupid! Also I would do some custom, rare ones as well. BTW...I've seen several copies of adventure (new) sell for well over $100 bucks lately on ebay. That's for one box. Surely I can make boxes cheaper than $100 a pop! Clearly I wouldn't be trying to make a new ASTEROIDS box, since those are all over ebay new.
  4. I've been trying to replace my Atari stuff slowly. Just got a pack of 10 case fresh games from ebay. However this is getting expensive. What really sucks is that some of my 2000'ish ebay Atari game boxes faded from being too close to the light in the room. I'd give anything to be able to go back in time and NOT throw away those coleco games tho. I threw so much away! STUPID ME! Funny how there is an age range where you stop caring about your childhood stuff, then another one where you crave it.
  5. What blows my mind is that I sat down once and tried to figure out when I had various systems. As far as I can figure, I really only had the 2600 for like 2-3 years before jumping to the next system. Sadly , I sold my 2600 back then to get cash for colecovision games. In my mind I had the Atari 2600 for my entire childhood, crazy to think it was just a brief blip...... However...what is ever worse than that is I threw away all my colecovision stuff at a teen. OMG! What was I thinking?
  6. Trying to avoid digital printing....so a large run is the option Im looking at.
  7. Yeah they have cases for Atari..and web pages with covers to print out for them all set up. For me, I wanted something that looked like the original...however I am open to changing the lids to make it easier, since that doesn't affect the look too much.
  8. Sure! Any info will be great. I already know I can't print just 5...so I'm prepared for a crazy stack. This is all the research phase to see what could be done. Hell, I'd love to take all the boxes I already own and make them new and minty.
  9. I would only think a major print shop would matter. Obviously people on here have done runs of boxes for prototypes and games that got canceled. Clearly those have images from things that are still owned by big companies. I could see if I was printing 500,000 copies they might worry. It's a valid point, but I'm sure if I got turned down I could find someone. I was just hoping to hear someone already knew the people I was looking for!
  10. I know that some of you have experience in producing professionally made Atari 2600 boxes. I was wondering if some of you could point me in the right direction. I am a graphic artist and I have been wanting to make up some Reproduction/& Custom Atari boxes, because I love to have minty boxes. So I am covered as far as making the artwork, but a bit fuzzy on the actual printing side of things. Could someone recommend a place to get boxes made( in the U.S.A)? By that I mean some place that would professionally print them, cut them, and even pre-fold them. Also what thickness is used for these boxes, lastly what kinda damage $$ wise am I looking at? ... any other info would be welcomed. I am looking to make actual Atari style boxes, not a slip cover box. I should point out that I am aware this is the expensive way to go about things. I know I would be better off buying boxes off ebay. I don't want to print them out at home on a printer. I don't want to use non-Atari boxes with slip covers, etc....Basically, please don't try to talk me out of being a crazy Atari fan....
  11. Trust me, I wished a had played it as a kid. I think I had moved on to a colecovision or something by then (Not sure about the timeline on that). However I think as far as Howard Warshaw games go...I'd say Yar's was his best Atari game, and raiders still rates below e.t.... I think the first real Indiana jones game I played was the Temple of Doom arcade game. I would have loved to see an ATARI 800 version of raiders. They could have really expanded on what they were trying to pull off. I do see how you love the Atari 2600 version. Just for me, not having the memories of playing it as a kid takes doesn't do it any favors... Getting back on topic, I do agree E.T. got too much hate. I don't believe for a second that it crashed the market. Everyone was moving on to computers and consoles didn't cut it anymore. In fact, I think the first game I got that made me think Atari 2600 glory was over was PAC-MAN. I played it as a kid, but I remember thinking that it wasn't that great even back then .
  12. Had I played Raiders as a kid I would have nicer things to say about it. Things from our childhood always have a home in our hearts. I believe the first time I played that game was on a emulator and I just didn't understand what was going on. Later on I remember watching a youtube video explaining all the crazy stuff you had to do to win the game. I was like...holy hell..thats how you play! I should note that after all that I did in fact go out and buy a "REAL" copy. Just because a game is bad, doesn't mean its not fun to kick around with from time to time. I just think it's freaking insane how you play/win it. Also considering we started off talking about E.T., I certainly think E.T. was more playable. I would have thought Raiders should have taken more heat than E.T.....
  13. I never thought of E.T. as one of the worst games on the system. I find the game boring, but still amusing (if that makes sense). It's more like playing an unfinished idea. Clearly the worst game put out by Atari is "RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK". Unless you have someone sitting next to you explaining to you what you are looking at and what to do, the game makes no sense. Keep in mind I didn't play RAIDERS as a kid, as I had moved on from the Atari 2600 by the time this came out. So I don't have any "childhood fog" messing up my views on this game.
