  1. The Jaguar version doesn't feel much like the arcade version to me. NBA Jam Tournament Edition on the Saturn and NBA Showtime on the Dreamcast are the two games in the series that play closest to their arcade counterparts. Haven't really figured out which original Jam is closest, but it wasn't the Jaguar.
  2. Not sure how you having a bunch of disc-based systems fail relates to this topic--the lasers in those probably will fail. Every secondhand cartridge-based system I've ever had (and bought secondhand cartridges for it) has been spotty with how reliably it played cartridges, often times no matter how well I cleaned the contacts. The OP could return the system, buy another from a different seller, and be right back at square one with another flaky system. Get a partial refund and send it to Best to get it refurbished. Then you'll at least have a reliable console.
  3. NBA Jam Tournament Edition is a fun game, but I sold my Jaguar copy since the Saturn version looks and feels more like the arcade version at a fraction of the price--or equal price if you bought a Saturn and the game.
  4. I fixed this by messing around in the TV settings. It's a flat screen CRT RCA from 2002 but apparently, I needed to activate the S-Video plug since it was set for only detecting it as an A/V cable. I have no idea why it worked the last time I played it, but now I'm back on AvP!
  5. I'm using an S-Video cable from an ebay seller and a model 1 Genesis power supply. When I last played it using the same cables and TV all was fine. After seeing the issue, I swabbed the cable and where it plugs into with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I also tried my Atari Karts cartridge and that yielded the same display issue.
