Crystal clear HDMI video output LumaCode
pancio replied to Jfcatari's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It was very similar for me .. A dozen or so useless adapters ... Only these two RGBS2HDMI and SV2HDMI from BitFunx were suitable. I checked the SV2HDMI operational in two XE computers, the first without a TV modulator with an additional VideoFixer (called FideoFixer for fun 🙂) which is eliminating the discontinuity of the GTIA gradient in the image and msharpen image. The second tested computer is without any modifications and with a TV modulator. In the second case, the image was a bit worse - that's why it's worth throwing a TV modulator 🙂 I saw your solution some time ago but I didn't associate it or I thought it was expensive ... I don't remember anymore. Now I can see that I have descended to the topic similarly. I believe that it is worth testing and further work on improving quality (it is possible that you can modify the parameters by SDA/SCL, which is derived and connected to EEPROM memory) I am waiting for several other copies of this device to confirm the results ... You're right... but the price-quality ratio and the advantages such as sound via HDMI and no need to destroy the housing convince me more... It's very good alternative in my opinion... I tested it on stock 30 years old Atari, with modulator and without any extensions inside. VBXE has HDMI limitation, Sophia doesn't work properly with many TVs - proposed solution working without any issue via 5 meters long cable! It's not rocket science... just a simple idea that produces desired results with little effort.. Did you used AV signal or LUMA/CHROMA signals in XEP80-II? BR, pancio -

Hi again, Are you still locking for crystal clear video with audio stereo on HDMI? You will find them here... https://systemembedded.eu/viewtopic.php?t=58 Of course, this is just a concept that requires refining the housing and microHDMI connection. But you will admit that the possibilities are huge 🙂 Now I'm working with my colleagues to find a suitable housing that will fit in place of the TV modulator. You won't need to make any additional holes! Update soon... blacklampTV55.mp4 signal-2024-04-14-211741_002.mp4 -

Yes, I noticed users on https://atarionline.pl/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=7481&page=1#Item_3 as well. Next week I'll try with other upscallers (cheper!). BR, pancio -

If you have VBXE/Sophia2 you may use cheap upscaller RGB2HDMI and use it with Audio stereo together on HDMI cable... Moreover, you don't need to damage Atari's enclosure and equip it with additional PCB like SAVO... Results? Very good! Vertical bars on picture are from power distribution - need to add some capacitance near to GTIA/CPU. signal-2024-03-31-072621.mp4 signal-2024-03-29-200242_004.mp4 -
Thank you for details, MC has address decoder for two ranges: $D1xx and $D5xx, $D580 is set as default but of course you may change it do another addresses window with $20 bytes step. So for sure we may avoid conflicts 🙂 BR, pancio

Thank you @kenames99, Additional feature on this board is TTL serial which may work with 125kbit/s and 2mbit/s - if we are using e.g. CH340C based RS<>USB 🙂 I'm during test MC with Covox on board, if it will work with Atari 800XL I'll prepare similar version for 1090 as well. BR, pancio

Hi, MIDIcar for 1090 finished but not tested yet (lack of 1090). I'll update with feedback soon (try to connect to A800XL using PBI and dupont wires). BR, pancio

If you want to be The First Tester... 🙂

Hi, My proposal for MIDI device on 1090XL. Schematic, PCB and gerber's files are available on my page. Have fun.

Hi, I prepared KiCAD's footprint and symbol for empty 1090 breadboard - if someone need to work with own prototype based on blank PCB. BR, 1090_expander_sym_mod_kicad.zip

Thanks Brian, I thought about KiCAD footprint which I may to use in PCB editor... like empty PCB with edge with signals. BR,

Hi, I may prepare MIDIcar for 1090 as done for XE/XL. Is any base board footprint available (KiCAD preffered) for development? BR, pancio

Thank you to everyone who voted! It doesn't matter in which project 🙂 I have updated my page with details about DIAGari (AtariUNO). Anyone can build such a prototyping device with Atari. Best Regards, pancio

Invitation to the launch of the MIDICar Player
pancio replied to PeBe's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hi, As I know... MCP was made by PeBe 🙂 From my side a piece of news related to MIDIcar: New version of MC was released, called MIDIcarSDX... and yes.. it has SDX placed on board... Why SDX? because it's only one (?) DOS which is distributed as cartridge and contains other cartridge (!). On that additional cartridge we placed MCP and a few MIDI files. Follow: https://abbuc.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=17612#p17612 for more detalils. BR, pancio
