Alright, I've posted before on this forum reporting I had a non-working Atari 2600A which had worked for a short period before my post. To Recap to that post, I've got it working for now. Not by replacing the voltage regulator (yet) but by reflowing the solder with a soldering iron and refilling some points with new solder.
I am glad that worked, for now, like I said.
My issue now is that the colouring seems bad or off, I've tried adjusting the color pot (yes, I found that out) but to no avail.
I tested the game Demon Attack which I think should look like this:
or this:
And I must say I think the first one is not good for colour either. Anywho, second game I used was Cosmic Ark which should look like this:
On my Atari, on the other hand, it has some colour but not all colour, like in Cosmic Ark the background should be in colour, on my system it's white only. Same goes for Demon Attack, the "demons" as in the two videos should be in colour, mine shows them in white and also the ship is not in the correct colour.
Now after looking around on the web, the 2200uf 16V capacitor might need to be replaced, if so I was wondering if this would be a correct substitute: https://sinuss.nl/componenten/passieve-componenten/condensatoren/aluminium-electrolytic/aluminium-electrolytic-capacitors-leaded/1165377-mal202115222e3-cap-alu-elec-2200uf-16v-axial-vishay(it's a Dutch website since I'm from there...).
If that's not the case, I might as well still replace the voltage regulator.
What I also wanted to mention is that, once I had my Atari open I was feeling some components on temperature and damn that TIA was hot! So again, after lurking on the web, I tried prying it loose without damaging it and straightening its pins (it was seated incorrectly I think) and that did bring my system back actually with using a modern cable that I got from my cable company which is an RF cable too. (not small enough to fit on the plug in the Atari sadly...).
Anywho, I haven't put my Atari back together yet in case I needed to resolder or replace anything after I reseated the TIA nothing was getting hot to the extent of the regulator which needs to process the power. Before I reseated the TIA, the TIA was the only thing getting hot, both the CPU and RAM were in a figurative way of speech ice cold!
So my question is, to keep it short because I like to rattle on...: Should I replace the 2200uf 16V as a start, and then the voltage regulator, or just do both while I'm there?
I don't want to mod my Atari for AV mod yet, because finding a replacement Atari is quite expensive around here. We don't find them on the curb as I've seen some other posts.
