  1. Does anyone happen to know a shop or a person who provides modding services for the Sega Game Gear (especially in Europe)? I don't have the skills to mod my GG with Tim Worthington's GG mod with additional external controller mod. I recently bought a GG with McWill VGA mod. The mod sounded good until I saw the output quality. While the picture is crisp, there is some really nasty looking screen tearing which slowly scrolls across the screen. I did some research and found that it is a 'feature'. That's why I want to mod my other GG with TW mod.
  2. It could be. I wonder is it possible to solder a bit stronger/weaker resistor so it could work with the R10? Now the resistor is 75 ohm as in the instructions.
  3. The problem was my monitor (Commodore 1084S). It seems that the s-video mod is not completely compatible with the monitor. I tried both Vic 20's with RetroTink 2X: no flickering. Also my early 2000's Sony Trinitron CRT worked without any problems
  4. I just S-video modded my VIC-20 and while the picture quality is great -> 5 minutes in after powering the unit the upper portion of the screen starts to flicker. I modded the Vic 20 with these instructions http://sleepingelephant.com/denial/wiki/index.php?title=S-Video_output I actually bought another Vic 20 as I thought there was some problem with my first unit. I modded the other Vic with same results. Does anyone know what might be the problem?
  5. Ok, thanks! I'll try to remove the wire and check if it helps, hopefully so! I forgot to mention that the inteference is more visible while playing 2600 games (as seen in the screencap of Ms. Pac Man). 7800 games look mildly better.
  6. I just bought Retrotink 2X and I'm having problem with my s-video modded PAL 7800. There is a lot of scrolling (and wavy) lines across the screen. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this problem? Bad video chip etc?
  7. Does anyone know is the Retrotink 2X compatible with s-video modded Atari 7800? I've read something about 2600's not working properly with Retrotink.
  8. Yes, I tweaked both posts on the motherboard and also the on the the mod. I've tried three different tv's and all of them show the same problem. As you said, it sounds strange. The thing is that most of the 2600 games look awful and if you try to get the right colours the ghosting gets worse. Other case is that 7800 games either look ok (but still with wrong colours) or really bad (overblown whites and wrong colours). I'm suspecting that something is wrong with the motherboard. Before the modding the picture flashed between black & white and colour. I'm having bad luck with my pal 7800's. I have bought two of them and both of them have problems Now it seems that I have to buy a third one and hope it will work without problems.
  9. I am having a problem with my pal Atari 7800. The screen flickers randomly and has a massive ghosting issue with 2600 and 7800 games. I had the same problem with rf, and I thought that was the problem. Then I s-video modded the console and I am having the same problem. Most of the colours are off and tweaking the pots does not help with the issue. I wonder, could the motherboard be the problem, or is some chip problem? I have modded my ntsc 7800 and the games look fine. I have also tried different power supplies and s-video cables.
  10. Thank you very much! Your manual helped a lot and I took the +5V from different spot, and that helped! The picture quality is excellent, especially when compared to composite. I tried the s-video mod with Commodore 1084S and with 65" oled tv via framemaister. Both 2600 and 7800 games looked awesome!
  11. Ok, good to know. I'm having a problem with the mod at the moment. I only get wildly scrolling black & white picture out of the mod. That's why I was wondering about the rf: "does it need it to sync the picture" etc.
  12. I'm just installing the mod to a ntsc model. Do I need to solder the rf box back to the motherboard?
