#4009263 Atari 8-bit related BBS(s)

Posted by bf2k+ on Mon Apr 16, 2018 7:56 PM

Man... that goes back further than I do.  I don't remember any of those NE Ohio BBS's.  I really didn't get into the BBSing until about '86-'87.  Not sure when the Akron area Atari BBS's started up but none of them seem to be on that list.

The original Boot Factory is on the list... even though they didn't have the name correct.

bfbbs.no-ip.com :9000

The BBS on port 9000 is always a temporary bbs.  I only run it at certain times.  It hasn't run in a couple of months.

#3977771 Looking for commercial BBS info

Posted by bf2k+ on Sun Mar 4, 2018 5:58 PM

FoReM XE was definitely NOT PD.  My friends bought it for their BBS.

I also had a plain jane FoReM written in Atari Basic as well as FoReM MPP.

The KEEP was also an Atari8 BBS program. I have that here.

Atari Link - I also have that one.

Hutch BBS by John Hutchy - have that one too.

I guess some of these are questionable as to whether they were commercial or not.

#3976675 Creating ATR files from Atari disks?

Posted by bf2k+ on Sat Mar 3, 2018 7:01 AM

APE creates atr's as well or just use it's PRO system to make direct ATR, ATX, and PRO images from the disk drive itself or the reverse and make real disks from the ATR, ATX, PRO images on the x86 as well

This is the method I prefer...

The original 'Sysop Deal' modem was the USR Courier.  I still have at least one around here somewhere.

The BBS is back up.  That part of the re-arrangement is completed for now.

Still a lot of work to do.  Lots of computer equipment piled up where I normally park my car.

The Boot Factory 2K+ BBS will be down for a few days while I re-arrange my office to make more room for my Ataris.

Otherwise, who has suggestions for ST BBS software? OR a different (and stable A8 BBS that uses SpartaDOS)?  Preferably SDX (Like I remember PRO using back in the day)

BBS Express PRO has NEVER run under SDX.  This could be your problem.   I run Pro v2.1a on SD 3.3.

Is the Y2K issue with TDLine or BBS Express! ?

In Altirra I'm using the R-Time8 device and it's showing The Day of Week off by 1 day.  Is this the bug you speak of or ???

I use Tom Hunt's TDLINE which is fixed.  I can't remember... is TDLINE used with BBS:Express 850 or just Pro?

I'm sure he'll respond quickly.  After all, 5 minutes is standard in 2017.

#3783395 Unearthed Files From Alcatraz BBS

Posted by bf2k+ on Tue Jun 13, 2017 3:01 PM

HARDBACK.HDR was a disk used by Hardback Disk Backup system from Chris King of Orion MicroSystems.

If that was the only file on it then it was empty.
