  1. OK, I'm convinced now that I need to do a mod to my NTSC 2600. Best link with instructions?
  2. As far as the AV mod goes, all I can find is the mod for the 2600 JR on the "How To" link in the menu for this site. Are there mod instructions for the regular 2600 somewhere else? Mine is a CX 2600A.
  3. Thanks for all the advice. Another thing that came to mind: is there any difference between RF cords in the UK and US? In other words, are they also in PAL and NTSC format? I ask because I had to swap the standard RF cord that came with the NTSC console because the male end would not fit into the aerial port in the back of the PAL TV (or in the aerial port in the back of the NTSC-PAL VCR). I bought a new one off eBay UK and it now fits... but I don't get any action. So, to sum up, is the problem one of an NTSC console trying to communicate via a PAL RF cord? Is the RF cord PAL or NTSC specific, or just generic? Perhaps I'm just grasping at straws now.
  4. Well, no luck running it through the VCR. If someone has run an NTSC 2600 through a PAL-NTSC VCR and onto a PAL TV, I'd sure like to hear the details on how they did it.
  5. Ah, that's good info. At the moment, running the 2600 through my NTSC-enabled VCR sounds the best bet. I'll rig it up and see what happens.
  6. I could just cave in and buy a PAL 2600 console off eBay UK, but then I'd be spending money and have a useless NTSC 2600 in storage.
  7. Yes, I think UK sets are on UHF. I tried every channel on the set.
  8. I'm using my US 110v power pack with the 2600, but it's plugged in to a 240v converter, which I use for all my 110v electronics.
  9. No, I'm not even getting a garbled picture when I turn on the console. Nada. I've had the console since it was new, and it always worked in the US, so I don't think the console is broken.
  10. Hello all. I looked over the forum threads before posting this, but couldn't find the exact answer to my question. Most posts related refer to carts. Anyway, I have a 2600 NTSC console (and NTSC carts) from the US which I brought over to the UK (where I currently live), and tried hooking it up to my PAL television (a Hitachi model, made around the year 2000). The first thing I did was buy a PAL RF cord from eBay to replace the existing NTSC cord that connects the console to the TV, usually via the switch box. On PAL consoles, I don't believe the switchbox is needed -- the cord from the console connects directly to the RF port on the TV. However, I had to get a PAL RF cord because the existing one from the NTSC console would not fit into the RF port in the back of the PAL set. Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck, and get absolutely nothing on the TV when I switch on the console. The TV just continues to play the station program on channel 2 or 3. I've heard that the 2600 consoles are the same, and make no distinction between NTSC and PAL (although the carts do). Is there something else I need to do to get this to work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
