Another TI99 4a blog update

Time for an update.... In the year since my last TI99 update post to this blog, a lot has happened in my TI99 life. I bought a lot of games and cartridges for it. I bought a defective speech module from ebay that I got working. My floppy drives started to act funny, so I cleaned them and replaced the belts, but my DSK1 was still not working well, as determined by the disk manager II test utility. So, I went on a bit of an upgrade mode. Just for fun, I replaced all of the PEB LEDs with bright bl

Todays younger people and lack of 80's technology. :-)

Hi all, just wanted to share a funny story with you. As I mentioned in my last blog, I bought a Timex Sinclair from a guy who sounded like he was in his early 20's. I did not meet him as he left the items with his dad for me to pick up. In the Kijiji posting, he mentioned it comes with a game called Archer. Been a while....

Well, times has a way of slipping by sometimes. Been about a year since I had a new entry here, and in that time I had family move in and out, added a daughter to the collection of kids (up to three now), so things have been busy. I have done some work with my TI99, but I'll post that in my TI99 blog.   I just bought a dead TI99 4a beige model in immaculate condition with box and manuals, which I hope to fix. At the same time (and from the same guy) I bought a Timex Sinclair 1000 in a box. I

TI-99 4a updates

Hi all. As I am waiting for some new keyboards to arrive for my 4a (mine died), I bought a second 4a with joysticks and manuals from a guy down the street from me. This 4a seems to be in a bit better shape, and the keyboard fully works, although I do get a bit of key-repeat happening here and there. Also came with TI Invaders. The first came with Moonpatrol. I'm up to two games! :-)   Once I was happy with the operation of the 2nd I plugged the PEB in and tried to get some disk access as I ha

My first blog!

Hi all, just wanted to become more of a member here and I thought starting a blog may be fun. I have a lot of retro computers and retro computer projects so there should be enough stuff to talk about here. My first computer was an Atari 400, which I gave to my brother when I got an Atari 800XL, eventually got the 1050 disk drive, then sold the lot to make way for a Commodore 64c as everyone else in the area had one, and nobody had the Atari! :-( My best friend’s dad gave me his cassette drive an
