WKRP: Jennifer or Bailey ?

So for those of us who are WKRP, and we are sticking to the original crew for this one, there have been discussion of Jennifer or Bailey over the years.   As a kid Jennifer was obviously the hot one and Bailey was the nerdy one, and mean, glasses!!   Arrgg!!   As Not Another Teen Movie joked, oh no, glasses!!   That is uncureable!!   Of course, secretly, just like Velma and Daphne, we migrated to the one with the glasses because the Jennifer and Daphne's of the world were... unobtainab

Why is my life crap? (asks a friend)

Friend #1 Why am I such an asshole? Why is my life shit? Friend #2   Simple fact is, you reap what you sow!   My comment:   I mostly agree with the previous comment. I think some people attract storm clouds. All and all, I feel free to PM me with more details if you want an answer more in line with you, if you want advice, or just a listening ear.     I can say my life, like many, has been challenging. In more of life there are factors going on around us where we are no more t

Why can't things be black and white? How about black and grey?

Why can't everything be black and white? That question got me thinking. In a LARP I am part of a fighter company or family where the colors black and grey and from the above question I realize how true to life those colors area. First off nothing is ever optimal or perfect which we'll assign the color white. White or godlike perfection is almost not in the equation in our imperfect existence. What does that leave us? The opposite of perfection or order which would be a lack of order or

VALERIAN - Review

And Valerian was just that good. Heroes were likeable, the situation plausible, the action was good but not too much. Those oppressed you like, and the oppressors the reasons are likely. I can go into more detail later since the movie was just released last Friday, but for Sci-Fi buffs I found the movie enjoyable. So enjoyable, as I said, I wolfed down two buckets of popcorn before I realized it. Check it out. -Doctor Clu

Top 10 Star Wars imitators worth watching

Stars Wars was my gateway into science fiction. I was six at the time, I saw this record cover that my Dad had and the music of John Williams inspired me. I saw they had this guy in black... must be a black knight. And this man in golden armor, that must be the good knight to fight the black knight! And there was a princess. I thought at first glance from the pictures it was some high tech fantasy, ground based, adventure. Much like what Krull came to be now that I think about it.

The true answer on why Classic Battlestar Galactica was Cancelled.

Bryan McManis‎ asked to The Colonial Warriors in this Facebook thread: "After all these years has the truth ever come out WHY the show was cancelled with NO warning, NO Announcement, and NO ending of the Series. ? The Cast and Crew NEVER even knew it was cancelled until they showed up for work to find out it was over." And at the time I write this there are 35 comments. A great read in the Colonial Warrior group. Thought about it and my answer was as follows: "Wow this has been a good re

The Planet Boldlygo

On my Facebook page my profile picture was altered with the Star Trek 50th anniversary theme. I had all these four themes made into memes before that event passed. At the bottom of the pic it says “TO BOLDLY GO"   https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153974375173651&set=a.426260258650.199598.513018650&type=3&permPage=1   On my profile pic someone left the comment:   "Why havent they ever been to boldlygo hahaha”   This is a good and valid point. The New WKRP

This can be found here.   You can see the comments.  The basics are, as expected, you can't capture lightning in a bottle or bring that magic back twice.  I get it.   My thoughts:   So I think the show was a fairly realistic continuation of the story. People moved on, new people were hired. Some of the old guard stopped in but not all, and that is true to life really. The show gives us new characters that are fun, but also mentions what happened to the characters in

Star Wars: The Last Jedi newest trailer

So yesterday on ESPN which I hear is owned by Disney, they had a commercial shown to jocks of another franchise also owned by Disney: Star Wars. So here is the trailer: The whole Ray / Luke / Kylo / Snoke thing... ahhh!! Too many wizards! Looking forward to see what they do with Finn, Poe, BB-8, Chewbacca, and other characters that I think are interesting and no one is focusing on. And yes, since age five I've been a fan of C3P0 and R2D2. And sadly at some point they have to finis

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

So when I was ... younger... my Dad took me to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture.   Like a lot of kids I was a big fan of Star Wars.   Dad said I sat back in the chair, bored during the previews.  Then the trailer for Star Wars:The Empire Strikes Back came on the screen and I was at the edge of my seat!   And then the movie started, and there was some action there with the Klingons, but by and large I got bored again, sat back in my seat, and fell asleep.   For Dad, a person who had se

Palindrome day: Today is 02/02/2020

"I loved this fact and thought I would reprint it here. - Doctor Clu " ---------------------------- By Emma Reynolds  Today is a very special occasion -- the date is a palindrome, meaning it is the same when read forwards and backwards. It is February 2, 2020, or 02/02/2020, in both the MM/DD/YYYY format and the DD/MM/YYYY format. At just after 2 a.m., it was 02:02:20 on 02/02/2020. This is the only time such a date will occur this century. The pr

New Thoughts on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

--New Thoughts on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan---   Seeing Star Trek 2 on the big screen was the first time I've been able to do that since I was in the 5th grade. Naturally it was a big deal and for so many reasons 1) the phaser fire effect in the ship battles 2) James Horner's theme music 3) the story 4) The awesome uniforms. In truth, there was so much done right, why did they ever have to change things in the movie series from there on? Anyway, in adult eyes, Star Trek II is about a ma

My Thoughts on Panhandlers: How to Find Those Really in Need?

So I am curious about those that stand out in 100 degree heat and direct sunlight asking for money/help. Is that part of the pity act? How do we really know who to help and who is just a conman? Context: I came across a man outside a store asking for money to buy food at a Jack-In-The-Box that was nearby. I said meet me there and I'll buy you a meal. He asked if I could bring him back some food. I was in a good mood so I humored him. I brought him back some tacos and a $1 drink of tea... and

My thoughts on Ewoks... I could appreciate them

Ironically I keep wanting to call Ewoks "eWoks" after all the years of writing "eMail" and other "iPhone" things.   But vicious warrior cannibalness aside, I always looked at them as just miniature Wookies without the technology.   And I've loved from the start how they were able to foul up advanced tech with much less technological traps.   I think the movie showed that eventually technology did win and overcome, but it was not as easy as the Empire or anyone else might have thought.

My First 40 Years of Computing

I was asked what got me interested in the Atari and later what got me to move onto other computer platforms. So this is my story: 1977 - Dad had the Sol Terminal 20. Cool machine. Lots of Trek80 and Targ played. -------- We got a Sears Telegames system, which got us into Atari stuff. 1980 - Sold newspaper subscriptions and got my own Atari VCS. 1981 - Sold the VCS, got a Atari 400 when I saw Choplifter, Miner2049er, and Archon -------- on the computer. Also learned about floppy disks an

My Experiences with the Atari TT030 Computer

On a forum someone was looking for a Atari TT030 computer.   I had a TT030 from 2000 till 2006-ish. Even made a or towards the end to capture some of the fun of the TT030 and its modplayer. Before I go into my reply, I will say this about the TT030: for a while in 2000 I was using the 030 as my primary machine and even had CAB as a web browser for getting on the internet. At the time my Macintosh was a 68040 computer, so setting aside the Mac I was using was not so hard.  I remember

My Dissertation on a female Doctor Who

Friend # 1 Ok..just gonna say right off the bat...I am not a fan of Dr. Who...that being said...why is everyone freaking out about a female Doctor? I don't get it! The gender of the doctor is completely irrelevant! It's about as dumb as when people freaked out about there not being enough white American actors in Rogue One...or the new Star Trek series....priorities people...priorities... Friend # 2 I stopped watching after series 9 so I couldn't care less if the Doctor is a woman. it was goin

How do you socialize and not Facebook?

The other day, with all that is going on in the world, mirrored with just as equally and similar unfair things going on in hobbies, I simply had enough of Facebook.   The question at the end of this because I really want to know, "did you Facebook and now don't" and, what did you do to replace it?   (Need some feedback and ideas)        The prologue... (As said in Up Pompeii!)   I've had a love/hate relationship with Facebook for years.  And it is not Facebook's fa

Great list of DC Comics Animated Movies

Tonight I was cruising through a bunch of those sites with the fun information, though the next button for the next slide is usually scrolled off the screen and as a annoying lot of ads. I came across one site talking about all the animated movies released by DC and I have to say about 60% I've enjoyed. About 30% I haven't seen and it sounds like I am not missing much with those, and 10% I saw and were meh. Suicide Squad the animated movie the Oceans 11 feel was great, and probably why I hav
