Flying Hamburger - May 17, 2021

Fell asleep at about 8 a.m. yesterday morning. Woke up at about noon to get my haircut. After going to the store and getting food, I didn't get home until about 3:30 or so and didn't get to sleep until about 4p.m. So I slept a long time. It was really hot yesterday. Before I went to sleep, I checked the temperature. It was 82 degrees outside. It felt like about 100. Woke up at around 2 a.m. and continued work on my Flying Hamburger game.

 

Today's focus was trying to make the onion ring travel at different speeds. It took a while to solve a bug that made it so the onion ring showed up but not the burger after you died. I decided to put the short pause back in. And I discovered another bug: If the missile is on the screen when you die, it acts weird. So I disabled the missile by setting ShootingStatus to 0. 2 is if the shot is completed and the player is holding the fire button. Perhaps I should set it to that. I wonder how games back in the day handled pressing fire when you're dead and regenerate on the screen. Would you fire the first frame after regenerating and were holding fire when you were dead in Asteroids?

 

And a little update for those who missed out on Trimerous. I'm allowing e5frog to publish future copies of the game. I guess I should give him the instruction booklet files then.
