Atari 800XL
Well, it took a looong time, but I finally found my Atari 800XL. I only know it's an Atari 800XL because it says "Atari 800XL" on it. Someone had put it in a huge cardboard box at the bottom of the mailing supplies I use to mail stuff out in the garage. I found the games I have for it.
- Asteroids
- Defender
- Dig Dug
- Joust
- Pole Position
- Space Invaders
- Super Breakout
Which, while an all-star lineup of arcade games, leaves me wanting something more original. It took a few tries, making sure everything was hooked up tot he right place, and voila. The thing works again. So now I have a new toy to play with. Even though it's not really new to me since it had been in my garage.
I also got Save The Puppies for Game Boy working using GBDK-2020. That took a few days because they changed basically everything from the old GBDK and I had to figure out what they changed and how to make it work.
I went to the video game store. Everything was overpriced. A cartridge-only copy of Knuckles Chaotix will set you back $160. I'm like REALLY? Managed to get Super R-Type for $25. I want to get Mario's Time Machine for the NES but I find it hard to justify paying $80 for it. You'd think if they offered LOWER prices, they'd get MORE MONEY from more people BUYING games. And this bit of wisdom coming from a guy who has no business education. Oh well.
