Big chicken

I was working on Stupidman again today. This time I was trying to make the chicken appear bigger when it gets closer to the Stupidmobile. It starts out really tiny at the horizon then it's growing until it reaches its full size. This is hard to do on an NES with its limited sprites capablilty (and no zooming). But I think I did it reasonably well given that. I only used 4 tiles. 1 for the far away one, 1 for the not-so-far away one, and 2 for the close-up (shown here).

I also narrowed the road and made the background green instead of blue. I did this to save space. This is why the score (as well as the other text) has a green background behind it. I narrowed the road to make the game harder, as it was looking pretty easy to dodge the chicken given the road was really wide. With the narrower road, the scene was using a whole lot of tiles. So instead of making the background blue, I switched it around and made the background green and drew the sky with tiles instead of drawing the grass with tiles and having the background be blue.

 

Looking at the chicken now, it looks as big as the car. That is one big chicken. Perhaps I should add in the story that giant chickens landed from the planet Mars and were looking for the oldest raisin but they couldn't find it because Mr. Germ stole it.
