Bowling for the 2600

So, I took the modded 2600 that I bought from kielbaca and brought it up to my brother. He was thrilled and kept telling me about how much he missed playing Atari and such. He played a few rounds of Chopper Command and remarked at how terrible he was at it. He used to be really good but since he hasn't played for years, it shows. Then, we moved on to play 2600 Bowling. We played 7 games of it and he barely came out on top, 4 games to 3. We played some very competitive games and he couldn't believe how good I was. After it was over, we talked about how complicated games had gotten. You know, I can't think of any other game that is as fun as 2600 Bowling. It's even more fun when two old masters of 2600 Bowling meet up over 10+ years since they last played against each other. My brother was always better than I, but I'm already looking forward to playing against him tomorrow for a few more rounds. Told him that we should have a mini-tournament with beer and a few of his friends and play rounds of Combat and Bowling and maybe other games. I love it. Atari truly has the power to unite folks.Speaking of today's games, they just seem so complicated, that it's hard to have the same kind of fun with that you'd have playing 2600 Bowling. The interface has grown complicated in a lot of games to the point where you spend more time memorizing things than you do actually playing for fun. It's quite sad. All I can say is that it was like we both were 5 and 7 respectively and playing against each other like the good 'ol days. Brings a tear to my eyes. :_( Oh well. Things may never be the same again, but we'll always have Atari to relive the memories with. :D

Bowling was a 2600 game my father and I would break out everyday and play few games of. You're right, it stands the test of time.

Glad to hear he likes the modded Atari. I am really considering starting a service to mod them for people :)

Have fun, and I wish I was there to add into the fun!
