Plim-age

After searching the bB forum archives (I bet I am responsible for at least HALF the posts on it) trying to find something done a long time ago, I stumbled upon an unfinished game called Plim, involving little green aliens that landed on Earth. Now, I wonder why I abandoned it, so I returned to work on it. I just wish I could make a 2600 game that people would look at and say "You did this in bB?" I kinda doubt that I would ever be capable of doing such a game, but I have now elevated Plim to the work on full steam status. After completing 2600tris and Jack and the Beanstalk, I kinda wanted to make another 32k game. Heck, I'd love to make a 64k game, but bB doesn't support 64k (yet). So, Plim is the project du jour. And I want this to be my finest work yet, so I have put in cut scenes, which I think Plim is one of the few 2600 games that even have cut scenes (?) Level 1 involves shooting at the alien while automatically having the guy and the alien run. Once the alien gets shot 20 times, he flies away in his flying saucer. But little did the aliens know, that the man was a scientist, and had been working on his own experimental flying saucer himself, so, even though untested, he hops in and flies in pursuit of the aliens, hopping mad that 1.) they got away, and 2.) they made the TV quit working right when they were about to announce the correct answer on final Jeopardy! (you can see a whole bunch of colors flashing on the TV in the opening cut scene. That is Final Jeopardy? Well, at least I like the static that the aliens bring.) Here's a few screenshots of the opening sequence. Since these were taken, I moved the guy's arm up so it's more in the middle of the remote. I also like the title screen song. For those who are wondering, the title sequence is 17 seconds (I timed it), and you can view it as well as play an unfinished version level 1 of the game in the bB forum. And also, the title derives from the name of the race of the aliens. Although the name Zybort sounds more alien-y, I decided on Plim because Plim sounds plural, and I don't like the sound of Zyborts.
