Here's a fiber optic sign I found at a custom sign company in Burbank, California in 2004. It is a prototype (for a larger sign that Atari allegedly bought) and was made in 1991. They had it for sale along with all kinds of other samples of signs they've made for different companies. It goes from a white color...

And the yard stick is a vintage 4-foot one. It's called an Encyclopedia Yardstick and has some conversion stuff printed on the back. Pretty sturdy.
