    • Hi,   I have started an AV mod on my INTV but I am a little confused by one of the lower shield attachment points. It appears that underneath the cartridge some of the pins from the cart slot are soldered to a tab from the lower shield? Is this correct and if so can anyone shine a light if it is all of the pins (that are against pretty tight against the tab) that need resoldering to the shield. I thought I had covered the full take down in photos but somehow missed this. Thanks for any help.
    • The 5200 board is actually surprisingly large (considering a 600XL isn't). Mostly it's just the controller bin at the back that's all dead space. But the rest of it is pretty much board. The IV you'd struggle shrinking because of the way it's laid out inside. The Coleco for me is the easy win with regards to shrinkage. But the 5200's are one machine that would really stand for new cases. So many of them are damaged or missing the flap at the back at the very least. I'd be nice to have an alternative there.
    • Thanx Darwinmac.  I noticed keyboard repeat with emulator and with Mega STE, STE . That has nothing with picture load before game - happened too before I made those files . Just not really good code of game. Will try to set sysvar for no keyboard repeat - would be simple fix, or will need more ... Delayed protection is not rare case, maybe that's main change in version II ? 🙂  I will need to play it longer, obviously ..
    • Sounds like the somewhat unusual nature of how the game was developed is the cause of most of the issues. Headcannon developed all these ports, but they weren't the ones tasked with actually bringing that work into Origins. Appears that the process of migrating that work and adapting it for Origins resulted in a lot of inadvertent issues that Headcannon is hoping to be able to assist in fixing if Sega is willing.
    • I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I hate searching the web for a problem and finding a dead thread with no confirmed solution posted at the end.   I finally finished procrastinating and got around to desoldering the old 40 pin VDC and installing a socket + new VDC I got off ebay. Lo and behold, I've got sprites and graphics on the TV now!   I've just gotta get some thermal adhesive to properly secure the heatsink on the new chip and it'll soon be good to go!   Thanks for the help guys!
    • SwordQuest WaterWorld was completed. You mean AirWorld, right? To be honest: I don't think SwordQuest is a shining example of FUN & EDUCATION, more one of BOREDOM & FRUSTRATION. Wouldn't something like Raiders of the Lost Ark be more inspiring? It's far more inventive IMO. I like the idea of different controllers for different mini-games and making your own decisions while gaming, though. To honour the completion of SwordQuest, I think a good programmer should have a long talk with Tod Frey and then start hammering away on his old concepts of AirWorld, based on the I-Ching.
    • I doubt that will happen anytime soon. There's still plenty of power even in the pre-slim Xbox One and Playstation 4 to full realize classic compilations like this without compromising anything. And thanks to the excellent backwards compatibility that both their next-gen successors offer, these versions are automatically perfectly playable on the latest hardware.   As long as millions of gamers still play on last gen hardware, there's no reason to stop developing projects with modest technical demands like Pac-Man Museum + for these.
    • Turn the console on with the cd tray open or with no disk in, this'll bring you to the menu, if you got sent to the space screen then press the top middle icon to access the settings.    In the settings the memory manager will let you see, copy and delete game data and its number of blocks, very similar to a ps1.   It is much more efficient as instead of dividing a memory card into a number of blocks (15 for a Megabyte in Ps1 meaning 15 saves max) , it's divided into bytes.    Game data is dependent on game. For simple highscore games you should only have to use between 4-16 out of the 4000 bytes. Games like Dragon Force and Shining Force 3 which are rpgs will take considerably more at a few hundred. Sim city I think is the only game that required all of the internal memory (0.5 megabytes?) that will eat a lot of it per save.    Most people can probably live with just a single memory card and not worry about having to data manage. But if you are looking at 70+ games, you might have to decide on getting a second card or data managing.
    • @ZeroPage Homebrew  This appears to be a further development for Shanti's work on the Alien Breed inspired game called Bloody Planet - looking good in the video you have posted. Main character colours and animation reminiscent of 16bit sprites IMHO, (thinking Chaos Engine).  OR perhaps Shanti is working on a Chaos engine inspired game too. I suspect this is the Bloody planet game in dev though.    See here for the original AA post thread:
    • I have following code: moveq #0,tmp0 .w cmpq #0,tmp0 jr eq,.w nop One would expect it will never leave, right? But it does. Changing it to: moveq #0,tmp0 .w cmpq #1,tmp0 jr ne,.w nop works as expected!   (In the actual code, tmp0 is a flag modified by an interrupt.)   I also tried something like this: moveq #0,tmp0 add tmp0,tmp1 .w cmpq #0,tmp0 jr eq,.w nop to be sure tmp0 is really 0 when reaching the cmpq.   Anyone run into this or sees the problem with it?
