neotokeo2001
Welcome to Screamfest 2008 Orlando, Florida. 10-18-2008 At least they are all behind me in line. Zombie Attack! Ken Kirzinger (Jason in Freddy Vs Jason) signing a machete. One less relative to have to buy Christmas presents for. Love at first sight? (Phantasm Dwarf) Angus Scrimm (The Tall Man in Phantasm) Signing the Phantasm games. Guess who was first in line? Group Photo. Mr Scrimm was a very cool person to actually meet and talk to. BOY!!!! The five Phantasm cartridges signed. We ran into these guys too. Tango and Steve (Ghost Hunters). Tango wants a T.A.P.S. Atari game. This shirt is cool. When there is no more room in hell. The Party is at my house. David Emge (Dawn of the Dead Helicopter Pilot "Flyboy") Ken Foree (Dawn of the Dead) Clayton Hill and Sharon Hill (Dawn of the Dead) The Dawn of the Dead cartridges. Also had a cartridge signed by Scott Reininger (No signing picture) Elvira - Mistress of the Dark So what is an Atari 2600? Elvira signing the Elvira cartridges. Elvira is taking home her very own copy of the game. The Elvira signed cartridges. Other happenings at Scream Fest 2008: Relatives with Malcolm McDowell. Don't mess with this kid! Daeg Faerch (Rob Zombie's "Halloween") He autographed the knife with a red pen. Mike Baldwin (The kid in Phantasm) Some car that was parked outside. Christine? I wonder who this guy is? It's Bill Hinzman (Night of the Living Dead). The #1 Zombie. First ever to appear in a Romero film. Random vendor tables: I always forget to take a lot of pictures when I attend these events. I did a little better this year. More info on the games that I had signed. I designed the labels to have room to be autographed. DAWN of the Dead - A slightly altered version of my original Dawn of the Dead hack. Elvira - A reworked version of atari2600land's Terrence and Phillip game. New music, graphics, Title and end screens. Phantasm - An original game programmed by s0c7. You must search the graveyard and grounds for a way to vanquish the Tall Man. Beware of the dwarfs! There are no plans to make any additional cartridges for sale. The games are being given to the people who made the games and copies were also given to the actors/actresses. I do have an extra Elvira and Phantasm cartridge that I may EBAY to help cover the cost (Not sure yet). I attend these gatherings several times a year and if anyone else would like to make games to get signed in the future, Just PM me and I will give you a list of upcoming events/guest that are appearing. Jess Ragan
I've got to admit, NeoTokeo, you've got serious nads to not only infringe on copyrights, but flaunt it in face of the copyright holders. Not to spoil your fun or anything, but you do remember that Capcom was sued for making a game that was similar to Dawn of the Dead, right? Not to spoil your fun or anything, but you do remember that Capcom was sued for making a game that was similar to Dawn of the Dead, right? You're looking at it from the wrong angle. I don't make these games as a commercial venture. And you're right, I have met several of the copyright holders and they love the fact that they see something new and different. I always try to have extra copies that I can give to them but as the case this year with Dawn of the Dead I ran out of extras. Three of the actors gave me their home addresses so I can send them a copy of the game. Will they ever play it? Probably not, But it looks nice on a shelf with their own collections of memorabilia. When I do have extra copies made for other people here at AtariAge or Digital Press, I always try to sell the game at cost. Most of the time I actually take a loss on the release. I always give out free copies of the games to pretty much everybody who had any input on the development of the games. Even though I haven't met most of you guys in person I consider people I meet here as my friends and Atari is a great big hobby that we all share in. I met George Romero a few years ago. He loves his Dawn of the Dead Atari 2600 game.
s0c7
This is a fan tribute (Phantasm is one of my favorite films). There are only 5 copies in existence (2 of which are in the actor's hands), the rom will never be released, and Scott has no hopes of making any money off this. I don't see a problem with it. Besides, you can't beat the mental image of the Tall Man hunched over a joystick playing this:
schuwalker
I went to an event like this in Chicago a couple months back. I met most of the cast from Phantasm as weel they had a reunion for the Night of the Living Dead cast! It was awesome. Where can I get one of those Phantasm carts??? darthkur
Awesome pics Neo. I would give a severed arm and leg to go to one of those. I'm a huge horror film fan. That's extremely cool of you to give the original actors copies of those games. As for the whole spiel about copyright this, that and the other.....why not give it a rest, huh? Two great released games have been ruined by that sort of garbage. Those being Gorf for the Jag and the recent 7800 Space Invaders. Why keep stirring up trouble? Would it be preferable to have no more homebrews or hacks for anything ever? I wish this argument would just cease and desist. (Pun definitely intended.) This is a fan tribute (Phantasm is one of my favorite films). Besides, you can't beat the mental image of the Tall Man hunched over a joystick playing this: That's a real shame not to release such a great thing for every Phantasm fiend to enjoy. Not exactly hunched over it but this is as close as I could get in a short period of time.

Albert
Damn cool to see all those pictures, thanks for posting them. I think it's great that you're able to create something unique and bring it to these shows for the actors and other people involved with the films to sign. While I'm sure these individuals are treated to a great variety of items they are asked to sign, I can bet that the only person bringing customized 2600 carts up to them is you. Did Elvira really say, "What's a 2600?" And after you stated how much some of these actors were charging for autographs, I know that you're taking a big hit on getting these games made. I have to wonder how many autographed 2600 carts you have at this point! ..Al

Some actually recognize it as an Atari 2600 game but others like Elvira are a little confused at first. I still don"t think Angus Scrimm knows what it is. I have been doing autographs for years and have several thousand. As for signed Atari 2600 games: Howard Scott Warshaw signed Yar's Revenge Howard Scott Warshaw signed E.T. George Romero signed Dawn of the Dead (2006 version) Tom Savini signed Dawn of the Dead (2006 version) Ken Foree signed Dawn of the Dead (Autograph version) David Emge signed Dawn of the Dead (Autograph version) Scott Reininger signed Dawn of the Dead (Autograph version) Clayton Hill signed Dawn of the Dead (Autograph version) Sharon Ceccatti-Hill signed Dawn of the Dead (Autograph version) Angus Scrimm signed Phantasm Elvira signed Elvira I really just started but I plan on adding more. It would be great to have a Rob Fulop signed copy of Demon Attack. I really would like to make a T.A.P.S. (Ghost Hunters) Atari game and would prefer to have an original Homebrew game and not a hack. Any programmers interested? Edited October 19, 2008 by neotokeo2001
Shawn
If you make a ghost hunters cart you don't even need to add a pcb so the game can be just as fake as ghost hunters Thanks agian Scott for getting me that sig from Ken

It may be presented as overly dramatic on TV but they do come across things that are unusual. Anyway, It is far better then the British one where the psychic scares the woman all the time. Sayton
I wish I could hang out with you Neo. I've only been to one comic convention and got to see a few people (Bill Burge (Bobby) from the Ernest movies is the main reason I went). Not only did you get autographs of all that...but then I read you got Howard Scott Warshaw to sign E.T.!? I'd love just to meet and possibly chat with him. I'm jealous

+Random Terrain
So some kid scribbles his name on the front of all of his Atari cartridges and everyone complains, but it's OK for Angus Scrimm to do it? No Angus Scrimm! Bad!

Not what I remember the most about Elvira from when I was a teenager, though. Nathan
Gregory DG
Very cool. Did anyone ask about what these carts were for or anything (other than what Elvira said?) Just wondering if any of them were impressed by homebrew Atari cartridges.
neotokeo2001
Very cool. Did anyone ask about what these carts were for or anything (other than what Elvira said?) Just wondering if any of them were impressed by homebrew Atari cartridges. Anyone who saw the cartridges was curious as to what they were. I think the celebs get use to seeing the same Kinkos copied photographs that anything different really stands out to them. A lot of them had movies out during the heyday of the Atari 2600 and there were Atari 2600 games planned for some of them. Someone either had the rights to or was negotiating for the rights to Phantasm. When I spoke to George Romero a few years ago he thought that a Dawn of the Dead game was actually released for the Atari 2600. Maybe he confused it with a computer game release. Godzilla
man, thats wicked cool. Never forget the strategic rename, like 'fanta-sim' or something We already have a enough permanently lost, cool, 2600 games out there without deliberately creating more, imho.
