  1. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond today to buy a new shower curtain. While there I saw a pillow I liked for $59.99 On Amazon that same pillow is $94.82*. For the record, I'm beginning to think that whole death of retail thing has been greatly exaggerated. I find it easier to shop locally when my experience is like this :O)

  2. Sometimes your status update should be a blog post or a topic in the forums. Just sayin.

  3. Sorry Meatloaf, two out of three is 67%. That's a solid D+ which by most accounts is bad.

  8. I dug up my old Hitachi world-capable TV. Unfortunately, I can't find the remote for it. So begins the quest to bring it back into use. Universal remotes have codes that will activate most of the functions, but the TV has 4 colored buttons that are required to configure which system you're tuning. So far none of these universal remotes will send those functions, even the ones that have buttons of those colors. They're apparently for DVR use only. So, I built an IR receiver circuit on my Arduino and started hitting it with codes that DO work. Isolated the address part of the protocol and built a list of working functions and their codes. Now I built an IR transmitter and started trying the other codes until I found the ones that activate the missing functions. Now all I need is a learning remote to program them into. Moral of the story: Never lose your remote. Ever.

  9. I built IRATA.ONLINE expressly with the goal of getting many people in the retro computing communities at large to come together and do something interesting. Two years in, and I'm starting to wonder if I am wasting my time trying to promote it, as very few seem to even notice or care, even within these relatively small communities. I guess everybody's just fine with playing with themselves...
