  2. New Atari Blog post.... Full Steam Ahead! Atari VCS Follow October 17 · 4 min read Atari® and Steve Wozniak Announce Industry Changing Partnership on Atari VCS™ The Atari VCS team knows how important the marriage between hardware and history is. Why else would we share so many old time pictures with our fans about days gone by? The original Atari 2600 console literally launched the in-home video gaming revolution that still powers the home entertainment industry today. In honor of this long standing legacy of technology innovations, today we are proud to announce a major new partnership with the father of modern home computers and trail blazing leader in technology, Steve Wozniak. Atari leadership has been in discussions with Mr. Wozniak for some time leading up to this major announcement, and Steve has been a major supporter of Atari since he helped launch our company to stellar success decades ago. Upon first laying eyes on the demonstration model in a high profile public meeting with CEO, Fred Chesnais, Steve is quoted as saying, "neat." More exciting information about this global industry impacting partnership will be announced later this winter. Everything is going great and continues to move forward, with more exciting news to come from the hardware team. This is totally not a shit show. Stay tuned! — The Atari VCS Team

  12. "Gee, Fred, I really like how you got the LED to stay on like that." The look on Woz' face... It's as though he has, "why the hell am I sitting here with this thing?" tattooed on it.

  15. Yeah, I got nothing against Woz. Here's one without him I like how on the stock tracker, the latest press release is the PANIC BUTTON release that was sent out to try and save face in lieu of El Reg.

  16. A video would be better proof of things then just still images, for all we know Woz just nodded his head at all the 'features' Fred talked about... Frankly the image we do have... Woz looks 'unimpressed'... Gee wonder why...

  26. I'm on the side of "sheer hatred" for the Atari VCS and I'll tell you why: they've been super dishonest about their capabilities, the ecosystem they'll bring, their reasons for using crowdfunding, and their development process. Both of their main project leaders have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, and both left the project angry (one was fired, one left after not getting paid -- at least that's the public story). Their communication has been insultingly inept, and the only real asset they have is their nearly 50-year-old company name, which has a reputation they did not earn in the slightest. Comparing them to OUYA isn't fair to OUYA, which launched on time, under budget, with a massive store full of software, and some modest retail success. "Atari" is coming at this with less talent, a worse idea, and fewer resources, so it's frustrating to see the fans of the "Atari" name say things like, "it hasn't been proven to be a scam yet!" Your point about just judging them when/if they actually deliver is fine for projects that don't show probable cause for being scams. Playdate, Analogue Pocket, Intellivision Amico, and even the new Coleco mini-arcades are legit projects. From all the evidence shown so far, "Atari VCS" is not.
