  1. The block of AtariAge.com on Facebook has been removed! A huge thanks to everyone who took the time to send in a report to Facebook, that's much appreciated! Now if they'd only punish accounts that abuse the reporting process in this fashion.. ..Al

  3. Today I get told that KH has RVG content on his Patreon site in the form of an RVG Mini mag we made years ago, this is ours, my logos, designed by Greyfox and with RVG content, maybe some of his reviews but that does not give you the right to give that away on your site and claim ownership, then I get told your linkedin profile has www.retrovideogamer.co.uk as your personal site, its is not yours now, was not yours back then and never will be mate. Grow up, delete all connections to me and my assets please, when I set up www.homebrewheroes.co.uk you messaged me with an email telling me how disappointed you was that I did that, so what did I do, I deleted the site and started Homebrewlegends, at your request, you asked me to removed your reviews from RVG, what did I do? I removed them, i conformed to your requests, yet you still use my assets as they are yours. PLEASE remove any association to me PLEASE. I have requested these things be striked by Patreon and Linkedin also.

  5. The main reason I ask... I worked in manufacturing circuit boards for boat engines for a while (and marine electrical systems.) I saw similar PCB assembly tables. And the time I spent in Ningbo, China was limited, but from the production tables I saw in Atari's update they are equipped to, perhaps, produce 50-100 units a month, with 10 or so units a day. And they list this as "pre-production" so these aren't even production units they were showing. And they have at least 11,000 orders to fulfill. The facilities (sorry 3 tables) they pictured are in no way designed or equipped to manufacture 10,000 production units of anything. Not before 2022 anyway. And currently I'm hearing that a lot of facilities are not going to be fully open for at least another 2 weeks according to what the government is having them do due to the flu.

  6. Some things are still a novel concept. Whether it is taking money before you can play the system, or not letting things just roll off you. They can still try to censor or shut people up crying victim. However, once its released then there is nothing to hide anymore. In stead of worrying about the 'haters' or 'trolls', they should have put more time into completing the project. It will either be good or everyone who backed it will get a banana cream pie in their face and wish they had listened. ??

  7. Probably about time for a MENU / BOOT / 9640 MENU development topic. "9640 MENU" 80 column [17 Feb 2020] 9640menu 17Feb2020.zip - Added TIPI clock support. Menu checks time about every second. I suppose I could remove the seconds and check ever 30 seconds or so. I don't know of a way to access the TIPI DSR without blinking the light - All other clocks are currently untested and might not function. I can barely understand the spaghetti code I wrote in 2015 (for reasons historically documented). Intent is to rework Classic99 and Triple Tech to use the DSR. MBP/Clulow/Geneve clocks will remain direct-access. . - Catalog routine overhauled. Sector IO out; level 3 catalog in place. Allows entry of a path e.g., TIPI.FOLDER1. or SCS1.FOLDER2. - Drill down into subdirectories and select the file you want to run or view - FCTN-8 to enter a new path; use the "..\" to go up a level. When you are at the root, pressing enter on the "..\" will recatalog the device. - If you exit the catalog and return the last path is remembered - The options creation (F4) and the Edit/Save (F5) options are still tied to disk numbers. Will look to change that down the road. - The options files are currently compatible with the prior release. This could change if I enhance the program with paths and other information, or redo the antiquated menu structure. - If you have a Remind-Me file in the TIPI root in the format MM-YYYY, pressing "Y" at the menu will display the day's reminders and any scratchpad notes. This feature is a novelty at present and subject to update or removal. The various clock support complexities may dictate my next steps. - Are there bugs? Probably. I am using this as my daily menu program via the Horizon 4000B at present. MENU 40 column 7.39 [16 Feb 2020] - Minor tweak for ROS 8.42c. See ROS development thread. 12. A month ago, I plugged the wrong polarity power plug into my power box of the 5200 console, and cooked one component...I cooked it good, it was smelling burn ? Being in Europe, I thought it would be expensive and difficult to find another power box. Once a month, there is what we called in Europe, Repair Café, a place where you can bring your electric items (vacuum cleaner, blender, radio,....) and a band of goodwill electronic geek will try to fix for the cost price, so you dont have to buy a new one.... I didnt have a lot of hope, as I am they dont know anything about old console, even less about 5200, but I tried, the guy looked and kept the power box saying he would try to fix it, well a week ago, I received it back. It works! He changed the burned component and it costed me ...90 cents....

  14. Dan, The remedy to this problem is to cut the controllers free from the cables and toss them into the trash. The cables may be used for future controller projects.

  15. ^^^put that into a procedurally generated loop (think Nethack) with rewards for repeated grinds, and I think I could get into that. Problem is, "Atari" doesn't have any game designers, coders, or artists on hand. All they have is ASTEROIDS (c)1979 and they can't even spell that right consistently, or maintain a paid contract to keep the mobile version in the store. The good news is, nobody needs "Atari" to make a good game.

  18. Considering that they still haven't even officially started the production phase of the project, I'd guess June at the earliest. Although, if they know they'll deliver in the next quarter then it's kind of baffling as to why they don't just go ahead and switch the Indiegogo project to "production" status now to make people feel better. They claim to be working on production-related tasks, so it's odd that they're still listing it in prototype status. They've posted update after update without ever changing the project status even though they keep claiming to be about ready to finish production and deliver.

  22. Sorry for the late post guys and gals, I got a bit sidetracked by some projects I was working on this afternoon, but better late than never as they say! Ineligible Arcade Classics (Sega Genesis) - 51 minutes Ms. Pac-Man (Sega Genesis) - 503 minutes Pipe Dream (Game Boy) - 55 minutes Tomb Raider III (PlayStation) - 74 minutes Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits (Sega Genesis) - 218 minutes Nintendo Switch DOOM (2016) - 85 minutes Total Video Game Play Time This Week 986 minutes (16 hours 26 minutes) [85 minutes eligible] Individual System Play Times This Week Sega Genesis: 772 minutes Nintendo Switch: 85 minutes PlayStation: 74 minutes Game Boy: 55 minutes Most of the this week was spent playing all the different game variations in Ms. Pac-Man on the Sega Genesis, and I really love that the Genesis version of Ms. Pac-Man has an actual ending if you're able to complete all 32 mazes in the Mini Mazes, Big Mazes, or Strange Mazes variations on a limit of 4 continues. I was able beat the Mini and Strange maze variations, but I ended up failing the Big maze variation on the very last level with just 4 dots left to eat. Yowzers was that ever frustrating! I'm sure I'll go back and play it again though, and I especially love that every game variation can be played on pac-booster (fast mode) like the mod chipped Ms. Pac-Man arcade machines you sometimes find. The two player simultaneous modes with one player playing as Pac-Man while the other plays as Ms. Pac-Man is another standout feature that makes the Genesis version of Ms. Pac-Man definitely my favorite Pac-Man game on any system, just barely edging out Pac-Man Collection the 7800. Other than the Ms. Pac-Man time logged it was just a little bit of this and a little bit of that around here this past week. I got a copies of Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits and Arcade Classics for the Genesis in the mail midweek, and while Arcade Classics was pretty awful (I don't know how Sega could have screwed up Centipede, Missile Command, and Pong so badly but they sure did and all 3 games played slower than molasses in January) the Williams compilation was pretty darn awesome! I had a ton of fun hooking up both of my Genesis arcade sticks and playing a proper twin stick game of Robotron 2084, and the ports of Defender, Defender II, Joust, and Sinistar all seemed pretty good too. Defender especially. Anyway, that's all for this week! And now if you'll excuse me, I have a severe case of existential dread to go attend to as I turn 35 years old in half an hour.

  27. After an unused gift card from Christmas and some trade-ins, I was able to finally add one of these to the ITC collection for less than $10 out of my own pocket... This game along with a few others that recently came into my town locally, has really allowed me to get some heavy'ish' hitters added to the collection.

  30. PC Blood Bowl 2 (1271 min) Oculus Quest Beat Saber (398 min) Not much to say on BS. I managed to beat a Babymetal song (Distortion) on Hard, which is kinda like beating a low-end Expert+ regular song...so there's that. Last summer I picked up the BB2 DLC on sale and I've finally got around to playing. I played a couple single player 7-game leagues with an Amazon team. And the AI, while not horrible, also isn't all that great. I've been playing Blood Bowl off and on since the early 90's, so I was able to go 14-0 with 31 TDs for and 5 TDs against. So while it was fun. the lack of challenge means I'll be moving on (I don't really want to commit to any multiplayer leagues).

I mailed away a competition entry for 2nd chance draw, and they told me I'd won a bicycle... but the Intellivision turned up instead. It was the only game console I had as a kid.

  41. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for playing! Yes, I took the scoring from the arcade version, which may not have been the same as the intellivision. I do know you always get an extra car for zero smashed, and extra cars are every 30K. I'm not completely sure about the jumping distance, and not being able to control your speed in-air. Currently the car slows down right before landing, so it makes it a little difficult to hit your target (islands or other cars.) In later roads with the back-to-back bridge water sections, you can currently make it across both sections of water in a single jump, which may not be possible in other version. More playtesting may be required... Enter for jumping will also work. In classic99, the Tab key can be used as joystick 1 fire, and that's pretty close to the Q key. ?

  42. There may be plenty of "research" out there, but the question still gets asked here. The links you provided may prove to be helpful to some. But as previously stated, there is no single thread or resource here which goes through this. Again, the question gets asked over and over, and people spend money on what they think will work and does not. Hell, even when I picked up devices in the past I did research to determine if they would work and wound up having to take the dive myself -- there was no detailed information on how my Onkyo would work with old computer composite other than "it works," but I had to find out on my own exactly how and any caveats. In my experience it is also unfair to say that one device, at least in the consumer space, working on one source will work the same for all sources and I cannot subscribe to your Beatles and amplifier analogy; different devices behave differently for different systems and to say the TI composite output is equivalent to the Atari 130XE or Commodore 64 composite output ignores the subtle differences and nuances in the circuity which generates the signals in the first place, and how components can produce wildly differing results as they age. An example can be found here, in which the poster describes replacing the 10MHz crystal to correct a problem with color synchronization. As another example, my Dell UltraSharp 2001fp looks much better using Commodore composite input than the TI. I had a mini-monitor which worked just fine with the Sega Nomad but showed the TI video in B&W, and this device was tossed in frustration without any notation for posterity. The request is neither for additional research effort nor to imply anyone should become invested in doing so. I neither begrudge nor eschew outside information and work already done. This is a thread for our community to relate their individual successes or failures with specific devices with the TI, and optionally how it may work with other platforms in their repertoire, neither at the expense of work from other communities. Not everyone peruses outside of a few sources or a single source, web searches do not always return gold, and digging through heaps of information in chain-linked forum posts or articles does not suit well for everyone. Thus, my idea for this, a single thread from which I can build a spreadsheet to place in the FAQ.

  43. If Atari had actually been on schedule, then manufacturing for backers should have been finished before the virus-related delays. The units were supposed to be delivered right now ("weeks not months") so they should have been on a transport boat before the delays became an issue. Spectrum ZX Next is delivering to backers literally right now in spite of the virus and previous delays.

I released the first book in my zombie novel series 3 days after their campaign ended. I just released book 20 today. Started a Facebook Fan page and grew it to nearly 2,100 as of today I completely redesigned and released all 6 volumes of the Atari 2600 Encyclopedia (1,700+ total pages) Completed 52 more episodes of the Atari 2600 Encyclopedia video series Moved twice Drove 65,000 miles for my day job, photographing 150 sites across 22 states, and spending about 180 days on the road Meanwhile the Atari crew got $3 million dollars and just recently got a device that would turn on.....
