@ti99iuc and I finished up the manual for Atlantis. It can be accessed on GitHub here: https://github.com/CheungChang7/TI99_HOMEBREW/tree/main/ATLANTIS/DOCS Along with the files for the cartridge label. The files can also be downloaded below for convenience. I want to thank ti99iuc for creating the manual cover and cartridge label as well as helping me to get the manual good enough for publication ATLMAN.pdf Atlantis Cart Label with cut lines.pdf3 points

The more I think about it, Sunsoft, SNK, and DC Comics should have negotiated to create Neo Geo ports of the former's two Batman games. Then again, there was the Atari Games/Tengen Batman and what Acclaim and Iguana did with Batman Forever: The Arcade Game. (Neo Batman would have been awesome to have.)2 points

The game was pretty compact in all forms - the computer version is actually only 6K on an 8K Rom.2 points

Hi, just want to say I hope the season will not be suspended as I am hoping to participate. I just need to get my equipment situation together. Right now I have one real INTV console and although I have a back bit for it the console's rf output is so bad on my current TVs that I have just been playin on a 61-game flashback (which does not have the games currently featured in the HSC). Considering getting an a/v mod, or trying to turn my second flashback, which has power issues, into an ultimate. Or using something else to emulate while using real controllers, possibly via an adapter I scored on ebay recently. Long story short there is at least one other dude out there who really wants to jump in but is still working on getting his crap in order.2 points

Well looks like they can't get anything right. I wonder if delay on the business side of Rigid Force has anything to do with this? The business stuff could be that they owe these people money. Which might be why they don't have the source project for Finnigan. I was hearing rumors that they stopped paying devs in 2019. Which would line up with why these games are not in their possession nor complete. This also fits with how I had heard they were begging for free help to finish games. I wonder why people haven't asked more about the other pack in games. Skiing and Farkle should be done as well. I'm guessing Drain the Refunds John knows they still need a lot of work. This project SHOULD have been shelved at the end of 2019. It has been dead, and other people's money squandered for far too many years. If I was the devs, I'd hold the project back until I got my money too.2 points

I saw this KS project a while back as well and was thinking.. if he managed to meet the final stretch goal and the backers chose the Lynx as the final platform to port this game to he'd be working for the rest of his life on this project. Currently no big updates on my end to showcase, though I took a deep dive into the menu system and learning a lot about Jaguar programming in general. The event system has been implemented and the first few events are fully working with boss fights. Half of the bosses have been designed, that is a great milestone but I will NOT show the progress on this I'm having a lot of fun with this project, that is certainly the case2 points

That’s absolutely true. The end of the cable that connects to the controller can be removed and opened up, exposing the wires. And you can remove the entire cable from the console and the controller pretty easily as well. But if your goal is to REPLACE the original coiled cable with a straight / longer cable (and re-use the connectors at both ends of the original coiled cable), you should be OK with the controller end, although it takes patience and some ability with tools, and wire cutters / strippers if you are planning to thread all 9 wires of a new cable into the connector and reassemble it. But yes, no soldering is required. The end of the cable with the motherboard SIP connector will be more of a challenge. In my experience, there are a few variations of that connector. Some can be pulled apart, but some are sealed / molded plastic. You will likely destroy those when attempting to get them apart. Some can’t be taken apart at all, you would have to cut the wires, then try to push the pins out with an extractor tool. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to reuse those pins. Most likely you’ll need new ones, which will also require a crimping tool and a pin insertion tool. But yes, no soldering required.1 point

Don't you just hate it when someone makes a post about an arcade game that wasn't released for the ColecoVision, and you think someone's making a port of it to the ColecoVision, except the post is "Wow, don't you wish this game was on the ColecoVision?" This is kind of like one of those posts. Except Alley Cat isn't an arcade game, and I've actually done my homework. Using Tursi's image conversion tool, I've made a couple of ColecoVision ROMs to illustrate what Alley Cat could look like if someone ported it. What I'm learning from this experience is that porting games to the ColecoVision means a lot of compromise, and tailoring specifically for the console. The apartment that works as a hub in Alley Cat looks completely different from the IBM PC Jr. and Atari computer versions, and I don't think there's realistically any way around that. It gives the game (or the prospective game) a different feel from those versions, for better or worse. It's all a little... loud. (I considered putting shadows behind the garbage cans to hide the black parts on their bottoms, but I worried that it would camouflage the cat.) I've also included images for those of you who don't want to spend the time starting a ColecoVision emulator. There's very little difference. alley cat cv.rom alley cat cheese.rom1 point

Hello everyone, my name is John Peter, I'm an Atari game programmer, I started in this market last year, I still need to learn and perfect my games. I created an RPG game, in fact it is a saga of four games, each one will have a different theme and gameplay, the character's appearance will also change, there will be puzzles to "increase" the difficulty. I will be providing a link to download the game's ROM and the manual I created, with the manual you won't be lost, having tips to get through a puzzle. https://www.mediafire.com/file/ymb9cnl73zv967f/Quest%21_Fire_%28NTSC%29.bin/file https://www.mediafire.com/folder/ns3iecsk3yszo/Manual+(EUA)1 point

oh I love viewpoint! The music in that game is so JAMMIN'! idky but my favorite is actually the Genesis port. Something about all that sprite flicker pushing the hardware to the MAX, haha. Third level music is best and yeah, boss battles are tough!1 point

I've been tinkering with @JasonACT's toy. I am adding two uson pads (circled) for APS6404L-3SQR-ZR uson memory ic's as I accidently bought 10 of these on my first try of ordering the BOM for this device instead of APS6404L-3SQR-SN sop. It was a time trying to figure out where to put the first one that corresponds to U2, the one in U7's footprint was much easier. I hope these don't violate design rules to much and are producable. And as @JasonACT states below the 74LVS245 is 74LVC245 now on my drawing. This is just for me to use up my stock of uson memory.1 point

That is font 11 in XB 2.9 G.E.M. Font 3 is a similar bold font that I like better. The capital letters are 6 pixels wide, so unfortunately this would not work on a TI99 in 40 column text mode.1 point

@9640News the latest LOAD-SCS needs to be updated. The loader address has not been patched from >2000 to >A000. It appears that the IDE and SCSI versions in the 7.45 ZIP have the same issue. The TIPI and MFM loaders are OK. Are the current loader sources posted in a repository? I wrote a patch program for the build process that will take care of the need to manually edit the start address.1 point

This thread was so helpful. I was setting up my reconditioned 130XE with a new FujuNet 1.7 and A8PicoCart and FujiNet did not seem to boot. I followed your instructions for the Basic Cart and I was able to get everything playing together! I appreciate the source of information available on this site - Thank you!.1 point

Well, I had another interesting problem with the same 800XL that Sys-Check helped me get going a few days ago. My childhood 800XL that I referenced earlier in this thread, seemed to be working fine once I replaced that weak USB power supply. Its RAM passed the Sys-Check diagnostic, running in a loop for over an hour. And it passed all the Super Salt tests, also running on a loop for about an hour. So I decided to set up Sys-Check as RAM expansion (an awesome feature, I have to say), to try out some demos and games that require more than 64K. One of the things I ran was the eXtended RAM Test 0.21.0 from Satantronic, to check the 512KB RAM that's on the Sys-Check board. I'm running it from an AtariMax 8Mbit flash cartridge. When I ran it on my other 8-bits (three other 800XLs, and one 130XE), the test sees the Sys-Check as 32 banks / 512KB. Running the extended RAM test on those machines showed the RAM on the Sys-Check was good. But when I loaded up the extended RAM test on my childhood 800XL it showed 33 banks / 528KB!? And running the test resulted in a garbled screen shortly after starting it. WTF!? So I did more troubleshooting, re-seating and swapping of ICs with one of my other 800XLs. I already knew the 6502C was good, as I replaced that when I first took this 800XL out of storage last month, and it was powering on to a black (and sometimes white) screen. But here's what else I did: I configured Sys-Check to use its version of Atari OS, and also tried it using the Atari’s own OS - no change Replaced my original ANTIC (C012296-31) with an XL/XE ANTIC from a 130XE (C021697-31) - no change Swapped the MMU from another 800XL - no change Removed, cleaned, reseated POKEY, GTIA, PIA - no change Removed OS and BASIC, swapped in ones from another 800XL - no change I also tested all the removed chips in another 800XL - they were all fine on that computer The extended RAM test still showed 33 banks / 528KB!? And running the test still resulted in a garbled screen shortly after starting it. Grrr! So I started searching and reading the forums for some clues, and I stumbled on a thread from @Beeblebrox about his trials and tribulations with a 600XL and a red screen. The next day I removed the PIA, and put in one I got from Best Electronics, and ran the eXtended RAM Test again, and this time, it correctly showed 32 banks / 512KB, and the test ran all the way through - multiple times - all good. Just to confirm, I put the suspect PIA in another 800XL, loaded the extended RAM test, and now that 800XL was showing 33 banks / 528KB. Yep, definitely a bad PIA. I never knew they could cause issues with extended RAM. I'm not sure what other trouble it may have been causing, as the computer seemed to be running fine otherwise. So there you go, another tale of a bad PIA. And I wouldn't have found it without trying to test Sys-Check's RAM, and reading the post from @Beeblebrox. Some pictures of the problem below...1 point

Since the Jaguar is unarguably the best console, you must not be using it properly. Though I'm for sure beating a dead horse here, have you tried playing with the Jaguar sitting in your lap, such that your nostrils inhale the generated fumes in a more concentrated fashion? The controller also becomes more awesome once you become very good at holding it in a different manner for each game that utilizes the keypad, such that you can utilize that game's preferred arbitrary overlay layout. E.g., if you can't play with it resting on your knee at an angle such that you can do an extra fast turn by holding down A+C while performing a flawless first-attempt weapon switch on the keypad while strafing a few tanks and helicopters using the advanced steering/control mode, you're probably still stuck on Level 1 of Iron Soldier 2, just like me. Note this is a level the only strategy guide I'm aware of for this game refers to as "an easy warm-up to get your feet wet," while the next mission's description begins by saying 'Time for a "real" mission!' Seeing this topic made me remember those heady “bit wars” days. And, man, Dougal22… was today the day you just finally had it with the Jaguar? Did you get hit with a Trevor McFur cart this morning? Did someone yell “where did YOU learn to drive?” and you slipped into “Do The Math” flashbacks?1 point

I forgot to ask, I'm not sure if it was a while ago that you've been, but do you remember if they said the games were tested / working, or if they have an Atari set up to test? They did have old school Nintendo's set up to test Nintendo cartridges. I'm just asking because if they don't have an Atari 2600, I may pick up a 2600+ and just bring it over there with the portable gaming setup I have (it's a battery pack that can power both the console and a 15" portable monitor I have). This way I can test cartridges on the spot. Though if they need a cleaning, that's a whole other story. ----- For those with a 2600+, I assume the power requirements are similar to a Flashback, I'll have to check. If it is, and you're ever interested in getting it portable, it's pretty awesome to be able to bring it anywhere and not worry about a power outlet. I can use the setup below for my Flashback 9 running Nexus so I can play all Atari consoles and Atari 8-bit computers, arcade games, Sega consoles, Sony Playstation, etc. on my Flashback. The guys on Atari Age (that's you @rocketfan ! ) who put this together have done some incredible work with the Flashback! (Some photos below, I know not directly related to the 2600+, but I have to give these guys credit for putting this together). Sorry for getting off-topic a bit, but I wanted to mention it in case any of you have an Flashback laying around and weren't aware it was capable of all this. Atari Consoles and 8-bit computers you can play: Bruce Lee for Atari 800: Space Harrier II on Sega Genesis: Gran Turismo on Sony Playstation: Jungle Hunt on Arcade: Gauntlet on Arcade:1 point

Brandi Rhodes - 49 colours. I was not seeing any visible changes at this point - I rarely ever go above 2 billion iterations. My CPU did manage to hit 78C towards the end of the conversion. The water cooler is doing its job still, as 2 minutes after shutting the conversion down, it had dropped to 55C, and a minute after that it's down to 51C. Stephen_BrandiRhodes.xex1 point

My joystick is very bad too. As an Atari 8-bit user since 1985 I can honestly say that this is the worst (and most expensive) joystick I have ever had 😢 As the Atari 8-bit computers have a large and enthousiastic user group worldwide (and on AtariAge) I can not understand why RGL/Plaion/Atari did not collaborate with "us". So many mistakes could have been avoided. Sorry, I am Dutch and Dutch people are direct. This product lacks passion.1 point

Thanks for the update. As someone who had a very bad joystick I was left with no other choice than to return the whole package, I will watch this and see how it develops. I am glad that the issue is being acknowledged and hope we can all move away from the narrative refered to in the Metal Jesus video. Good news. 😊1 point
