Well - it seems my lymphoma diagnosis is such that I'll never get to play my Atari 7800 XM. Kind of a bummer but may be looking for a new home for this soon.
-
Lymphoma treatment is really beating the crap out of me and sapping my energy. Looking for suggestions for comedy tv shows to make me laugh a bit more

Enjoying rewatching the original Star Trek but I wish they'd left the CGI out of it. Looks too jarring. Give me the original fx, however primitive.

Speaking of FX, A while back my friend and I were watching Battlestar Galactica which he got on BluRay. (I have it on DVD in the cool Cylon head). Anyway, We watched the episode where they fight the fire in space and when they're out in space, you can totally see the wires holding them "weightless". I began to die laughing and said was it always like this? He said, Yeah our TVs, especially being picked up on antennas, weren't high enough picture quality for us to notice.

Interesting number of "Wii U is suddenly rising?" type stories. I think it's often overlooked that Nintendo themselves are among the best game devs on the planet. Any good Nintendo franchise will spike sales.

the WiiU has a LONG way to go to reach Gamecube numbers. Atm, it seems to become the biggest flop from Nintendo after the Virtual Boy. For comparison: So far it has failed to match the sales of Dreamcast. 2 years of WiiU, and it is still not near 10 million, about the number DC sold in that time. And with the system being 2 years old already, and having basically wasted its headstart from the competition, chances are veeeeeery slim this will become a success.

In the end, you buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games only. They have chosen a path that makes it unattractive for 3rd parties. But I don't think that will work out for long. The Wii had strong system sales, but very low game sales per system, because the system sales were artifically high thanks to the appeal to non-gamers. The WiiU lacks that appeal, it's back to the core gamers... yet sales show tha Nintendo's games alone are not enough to justify a console for the gamers.

New radiation treatment plan starting Saturday to manage pain in shoulders and knee. Fingers crossed that this works!

Being a geek and rewatching some episodes of Star Trek TOS & TNG. Lots of classic eps in both shows. Though hands down, Stewart is a*much* better actor than Shatner. :-)

Very disappointed in how much my two Macs have been lagging. Constant rainbow wheels, blue wheels and sunshine wheels. Or not responding to clicks. Even on a new MacBook Pro with extra memory. Really find Mac OS X has suffered in the last two years for this

1) Look in Activity Monitor, view all processes, and see what's running. See if something is hogging resources. 2) Look in Console, and again, see if there's something cropping up in the error logs that shouldn't be there (something repeating over and over is a sign of a problem). 3) Run Disk Utility and verify/repair your drive. Test file copy speeds to an external drive. If you have slow performance doing copies, you could have a failing hard drive (we've had this happen in...

As my fiancee prepares to move in, time to start selling off some of my consoles and games for space.

I seem destined to never having a good NES experience. I've had three from loaders with the blinking problem. Then a front loader that displays a blank grey screen more than it displays the games. Now a RetroDuo that won't play 1/3 of my games and has bad sounds, washed out colors on the others. (sigh)

I honestly believe that there are few things that give me more anxiety than turning on an XBox One and navigating the UI. So convoluted, unintuitive and always changing. Absolutely atrocious design.

My wife & I are trying to complete the Star Wars movies before the new movie. Am hoping to fully test my theory of "Phantom Menace Syndrome".

The Anikin actors sucked. The youngest one was cast as a cute little lad having a great time as a slave. Then they immediately declare there is "much fear" in him. They took away the "ancient hokey religion" force and swapped it for a biological side-effect caused by parasites. The love story hurts my brain. I can only tolerate the third movie, but it is a struggle.

Managed to avoid hair loss so far with my chemo treatment, but it seems my time is up now.

The Tandy Color Computer had such awesomely shameless knockoffs! Quest for Thelda, Rastann Warrior King, Gantelet ...

Yep - I must be a grumpy old man. Now have 4 games for the XBox One and every one of them has required a 1+ GB download before I could even play the game! Grrrr.
-
Why would people pirate and resell games from a homebrewer? They're supporting our old classic systems as a labour of love, not to get rich.
-
This second battery of chemo is certainly making me a lot more tired than the first

Every time I read comments on UFC fights, I wonder how many pot-bellied armchair sneerers would be willing to get in the ring with Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Amanda Nunes etc if the opportunity presented itself? Yeesh

There's seriously a petition with 11,000 signatures to take down RottenTomatoes.com because people don't like the reviews of Suicide Squad?

@Cybercylon yeah. A good example is the old "hold the door" for someone test. I find it's at a point now, where only about 40% of the people you hold a door for say, "Thank you". Likewise, only about 30% look behind when walking through the door to make sure the door isn't slamming in someone else's face.

Neil Peart retiring. Was never a huge fan of Rush but had huge respect for their musicianship and tightness live.

Hmm ... getting a little worried about finally seeing YES live in a few weeks. That new singer is on-key, but seems to lack Anderson's strength

Finally watching the Richard Donner Cut of Superman II

It's definitely interesting. Many alternate shots used. And obvious that they had to duct-tape some pieces together.
Donner's love for the material is obvious. That said, in a rush to get Lester's slapstick out, I found he inadvertantly muted some scenes as well. For example, Superman doesn't seem to have the same trouble fighting Non. Also - for all of Lester's failings, the guy could make pretty epic scenes when inclined and some of the cool parts are removed...
-
I think he removed the part with Superman teleporting in the fortress of solitude too, right? and how he threw a giant S-logo made of plastic on the gang? I found those Scenes silly even as a kid. Anyway, the movie may have been better with Donner, but even Lester's Version was still really good Overall. I love the epic final "Kneel before Zod"

Not sure what's worse about Van Halen on Jimmy Kimmel: David Lee Roth's horrific singing; or the fact that people are making excuse for those out of tune vocals

Superman movie marathon continues. Trying really hard to watch Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. Finding it extremely painful

Since Disney now owns Lucasfilm and Marvel, does this mean Star Wars episode 7 will see Luke and Han team up with Spider-Man and the Hulk?
