  1. Here in Canada, Best electronics or best buy,ive been to ALL of them, anyway ive been to all of them here where i live and theres NO such thing as classic gaming equipment, just new modern stuff,no-one has a clue about best buy or electronics selling old atari stuff of whatever, the salesmen all look at me like im on drugs, and they say"WE NEVER EVER SOLD SUCH STUFF,"and i must be referring to the U.S stores,it doesnt surprise me as the U.S has all the COOL stores anyway,i should have known. You have GOT to be kidding?
  2. EXCELLENT tip! Received and tried the 5200 extension cable today, and it not only works perfectly, BUT fits as if it were made for the XEGS. Because of my lack of space here, I was unable to play any text adventure based titles (due to the fact of where the computer is located) and having the keyboard on my lap rocks. Text adventures here I come!
  3. Load"*",8,1 Why the last ",1"? My eighth grade computer class's (yup, we had computer class..a room of about 40 C64's) instructor always taught us to load this way. In fact, the ,1 is not needed at all. Or is it? A vintage mystery! Or at least to me....
  4. Digital Press's online rarity guide is a pretty good resource as well, as is the DP Collector's Guide 7. Nice thing about the guide is the littel tidbits and easter eggs included. Only thing is that repros of unreleased titles (B&C..etc) are omitted because they aren't considered official releases.
  5. Nice!! THREE Flip & Flop boxes? Hot damn! Wonder if there are any more in existence! And Crystal Castles, boxed Spy Hunter, Pool 400....you are making me jealous! Also, tjlazer, that Activision collection is super sweet. Looks as if your carts are not exhibiting much (if any) of the "Actiplaque" syndrome. Yup, my collection is growing daily, much to the disliking of my wife. We actually had a pretty bad argrument last night due to my spending habits....when I bought this I tried to explain to her why this was a GOOD thing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250050114146 Haha! Anyway, I think I will be slowing down now. I'll give myself a $100 a month limit, which should be more than enough to continue on my collection at a more than moderate pace. My goal of course is to complete the DP Guide's retail release list, and I certainly am on to a good start.
  6. Yeah, I am waiting for this as well. At least a 64k XL/XE can be modified to add 800 compatibility....but I would still *love* to have my 800 used as my "main" machine.
  7. Excellent work! Just tested it in A800Win, will test the game on a real machine when I get home!
  8. In a twist of topic, what is the BEST deal you ever got on a rare 8-bit cartridge?
  9. Quite a few: Beamrider Pitfall II Space Shuttle Decathlon Zone Ranger River Raid Pastfinder Keystone Kapers H.E.R.O. Zenji So yeah, actually almost all of them...ugh
  10. Yep, still working on the Activision titles here The only company in which I have almost every cart (missing one) is TG.
  11. After spending my day off playing games and alphabetizing my collection, I realized that Flip & Flop brought me up to 100 collected carts thus far! Awesome! The last time I had a library sized collection like this was with the SMS and the Vic-20...both of which I sadly sold off to cover debts years ago. It's really nice to have a solid collection, and especially nice that most of the games are actually fun! I'll have to get some pictures up eventually. They are all individually polypropelene wrapped now (Bags Unlimited) and all of the manuals I currently have are in Silver Age comic bag/board. Perhaps overboard, but heck, they amazingly lasted this long and I want to do everything I can to preserve them. We already have a thread of people posting their computer setups, but how about pics of your game collection? I see a few faces that have purchased tons of carts over the years on the likes of ebay, so I can bet some folks here have some pretty darn sizable collections. Show your stuff!
  12. Is it as easy as grabbing a straight through DB15 extension cable? I'ed love to add some length to the cable!
  13. I actually sniped it in an ebay auction with a few other titles for the amazing price of $18! I do not repro carts...it's the original or nothing for me (with the exception of those prototype repros from B&C) But, with some determination, you CAN get the collection you want. I only started when I posted that "first impressions" thread, and am already at well over 100 carts (some with boxes and manuals) and a few R8-9 titles such as BB Strikes Back, Flip & Flop and Carnival Massacre. I love collecting this computer...so MANY greats!
