  1. I scored 60. I don't know how I could improve any further. The hostages keep being felled by enemy fire.
  2. I've saved 48 people 4 times now, but can't get the 49th! Put me down for 48. If anything changes I'll post back. At one point I had 41 people saved, 1 killed by enemy fire, and another 16 in my chopper when the bastards shot me down!
  3. I don't know whether or not I'd have time to participate, but I'd certainly like to see it happen, and if I can join in, so much the better.
  4. 30,910 Bridge 16. I guess that extra Jet wasn't very helpful after all.
  5. 29,330 Bridge 16 So close to another Jet, Argghhh!!!
  6. Shoot, I forgot Berzerk and Miner 2049er! How could I forget those??? I can't go back and edit my previous post, so just add those two to my list up above....
  7. I've always loved the 5200, since it was new. In fact, my two favorite systems of all-time are the 5200 and the Dreamcast, another system that was prematurely killed off. In any case, some of my favorite 5200 games are: * Star Raiders * Space Dungeon * James Bond 007 -- never tried this until an HSC a few months ago, and it's a really good game. Similar to Moon Patrol, but better. * Koffi: Yellow Kopter * Beef Drop -- I hate that name, though * Kaboom, with a homemade paddle controller * Dreadnaught Factor * Missile Command * Rescue on Fractalus * Ballblazer (this is my favorite version of the game) * Ms. Pac Man * Choplifter * Wizard of Wor * Qix * Countermeasure - not sure about this one. This was the first game I got for my 5200 back in '82 or '83, along with the pack-in -Super Breakout. For at least a couple of decades I remembered thinking Countermeasure was really neat at first, but grew old and boring very quickly. I then played it again a few months ago and enjoyed it a lot more than I remember enjoying it. That might simply be because back in 1982/3 I was playing games several hours every day, and between Super Breakout and Countermeasure I just got sick of it, whereas in my adult life I now am lucky to find 1 hour/week to play, and in smaller doses Countermeasure holds up better. And it seems uncool to admit this on this and other online message boards, but I really like 5200 Football and Baseball, and spent many hours playing them with my brother back in the '80s.
  8. That is grate to here. I have wonderful opportunity for you. yes. I am suffering trouble with my banks in Nigeria, and maybe you can help me with such occasion. If you can help me out I will split the large quantity of dollars with you. It is good to be trusting of people.
  9. 42,240 OK, I admit it. After 27 or 28 years, I admit it. These joysticks are lousy (for this game), and the lack of self-centering causes me to die when I shouldn't (in this game).
  10. While I've got a preference among these and have already voted, I really, really, really dislike Jungle Hunt. Somebody out there, PLEASE place votes for anything else, just to get Jungle Hunt out of the running! (I'm a little bit surprised there are 2 people that like Jungle Hunt, in fact. )
  11. Sounds awesome. I'd be especially jealous if it includes the joystick coupler for Space Dungeon. I live in eternal fear that mine will one day break as I insert or remove a controller.
  12. Sounds like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000645DD?ie=UTF8&tag=atariage&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0000645DD
  13. 8,250. I never remember how hard this game is, and even though I *DO* see steady improvement with practice, every time I die always feels like a cheap-shot in this game, and it always did. I don't know why that is, but I'm pretty sure I'd ahve liked the game more if it didn't feel that way. If it matters, I only ever played this game in the arcades and on the 5200.
  14. I've got a Satan's Hollow. I think I bought it from somebody here (maybe CPUWhiz?); I'm pretty sure I didn't get it from GDG, so I don't know for certain whether or not it is the same code. My Satan's Hollow plays great, with one frustrating exception - it frequently freezes up completely. I'll be playing and suddenly the system just locks up. When that doesn't happen, the game is outstanding.
  15. Hi Doc, IMO $99 is too high. I might have overlooked this if you already mentioned it, but where are you? If you're near New Jersey there is a gathering (called NAVA) the last Saturday of each month (usually) at the Digital Press B&M store (in northern NJ) where people congregate to shoot the breeze, play games, & Buy/Sell/Trade videogames. If you can make it there you can probably find somebody with a 5200 and save yourself shipping. There is a similar event in southern New Jersey at Next Level Videogames, but I rarely attend that event and am less familiar with it. In addition to my main 5200 I have 2 or 3 extras, a mix of 2-port and 4-port. I'd need to take some time to confirm one is in working order and find at least one working controller (and RF box if a 4-port system), but I'm confident I could do that and then bring one with me for you. As for preference, I prefer the matte look of the 2-port, but I like the possibility of the 4-player functionality with the 4-port, and I like the elegance of the 4-port only having one wire crossing the floor from the console to the TV, so I'm torn as to which I'd recommend. Regarding price, I'd think $50 for a working console (and RF box) and at least 1 fully working controller seems fair. Maybe a little bit high, but reasonable, in my opinion. And now, back to work....
  16. 39,860 Assuming I get a better score later in the week I'll upload a pic then.
  17. I find the asterisk/flower baddies to be the most dangerous, because as I'm trying to kill them they end up distracting me from other, faster baddies. I think that to kill them it's necessary to shoot the dot in the white center, but the petals are shot off one at a time and move around the center, so it is unlikely any shot will hit the 'kill=spot' until the petals have been shot away. Still, this and Star Raiders are my favorite 5200 games and I used to play this game a lot.
  18. I have purchased this cartridge but no instructions. Can you describe the functions of keypad and joystick(s) or provide a link to where this is stated? The game controls are like those in Robotron - you use one joystick to control the movement of your ship, the other stick is used to fire your laser in whichever direction you choose. Instructions: http://www.atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html?SystemID=5200&SoftwareID=2103&ItemTypeID=MANUAL
  19. Bad news guys - I'm going to eat your lunches, take your lunch money, grab your turf, etc... with this one!!!! You're ALL going down! Lucky for you all I'm pretty busy right now and can't get to gaming yet. By the way, when's the deadline on this one?
  20. I also like the stock 5200 controllers. I think they are like the Fiats of the videogame world. They are broken more often than not, but when they are in working order they are magnificent.
  21. Shoot! I was AT CGE, but didn't read this thread until just now and didn't know to even look for this! I'd have loved to have checked out your device. The AA booth was so busy though I didn't even notice it, regrettably. The project reminds me of Clay Cowgill's adapter that was mentioned years ago and then never released. (No idea how far it got.) (http://www.multigame.com/mastercontrol5200.html) I wanted that very, very much. In any event, it looks awesome.
