  1. I agree, If anyone can make a decent homebrew/hack on the 7800, then Bob is up at the top of the list. Think I just about described Gorf in my previous post
  2. Take it apart and put it in the dishwasher, works a treat
  3. A space shootem up collection! Galaxian Phoenix A better space invaders Asteroids plus!
  4. Yup, I even imported an NTSC 7800 and 8bitdomains AV upgrade so I could play it properly in England
  5. Try Maplins, I have got THIS ONEfor my USA 7800 and 1200XL, I can confirm that they work well.
  6. AFIK, if it has the expansion port at the side, it is one of the 1984 release. Also ask if it works! and how bad the rf picture is
  7. so can you play real MD carts on the OS, or just the ones made specifically for the OS with MD adapter?
  8. I want to make real disks to go in my real 1050 could you point me in the right direction? MyPicoDOS by Hiassoft is a good one, it handles MyDOS sub directories and such, allows long file name support (actually stores long filenames in a seperate file). Works great... I haven't found an .XEX that hasn't worked yet for me. For transfering .XEX files from PC to Atari, I prefer to make a scratch image containing those .XEXs.... dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$franny -C -d d -s 1440 -f s dsdd.atr dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$franny -A -i TheGreatAmericanCrossCountryRoadRace.XEX -o GACCRR.XEX dsdd.atr dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$franny -L dsdd.atr --- GACCRR .XEX 177 45089 30-05-2007 13:18:07 dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$ls -l dsdd.atr -rw-r--r-- 1 dwhyte dwhyte 368272 2007-05-30 13:17 dsdd.atr Then it's just a matter of loading up SpartaDOS or RealDOS on the 8bit, put the scratch image that was created in APE and file copy over to the disk in the 1050 that was formatted ssdd with MyDOS. Or just create the full image and sector copy across with APE to 1050. dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$franny -C -f a -t m ssed.atr dwhyte@linux-laptop:~$franny -A -i *.XEX -o *.XEX ssed.atr If you haven't added MyPicoDOS yet, remember to save around 15 sectors or so for it... Thanks, but I really have not got a clue with command line, linux etc, if it's not drag and drop, I am pretty much stuffed!
  9. could you point me in the right direction?
  10. I want to get more than one game per disk, like the Holmesoft disks, but with my choice. I have Ape, SIO2PC, a 1050 with doubler and Lazer. How do I go about it, using downloaded .atr images? Thanks
  11. Hey! Thanks for the links, they were very useful! I contacted Steve about the Atari 5200, I hope I get an answer from him. Also thanks for the link of the A/V upgrade. I will consider that. Problem is that I'm not talented in doing something, so I will have to look for someone to do that for me ^^ Steve is a top bloke, so you will undoubtedly be getting a reply soon. Unless you TV can accept NTSC rf signal, then you will have to do the mod before you can use the 5200 in Germany! The 8bit domain board is a plug in board for the 5200, so you will just have to drill some holes in the case for the sockets. If you can hold the right end of a drill, I am sure you can do it! I fitted the 7800 a/v kit last week and previously had no soldering experience. Just follow the instructions carefully! Or if you are still not sure, ask Steve to do the mod for you before he posts it, he is a real talent at soldering, I bought a modified 1200XL from him, and you could not tell the difference between the factory solder and the modified bits. All the best, and hope you get to enjoy a 5200 soon!
  12. sent cant wait for this one, thanks for making it happen Mitch
  13. Like it says, want to softmod my x-box. Would consider buying from USA if there are no compatibility problems Thanks
  14. have you tried some of the Atari houses? Video 61 Lance is really good to deal with Atari max Steve makes the multicarts for the 5200, I have imported a 1200XL from him to the UK. Highly recommended. They both have working systems for sale at the moment- The atarimax one looks good as it has quite a few games included I think Dont forget to buy your 5200 A/V upgrade from 8bitdomain Good luck Mike
  15. Sounds positive, fingers crossed, then we can get back to the FB3 :!:

    New find

? It will be available via Mitch soon... Does that mean "available on cart for purchase"? If it does, how does Mitch do that? Will he want the necessary components sent to him? I'm not very "in the know" about how this stuff normally works in cases where the carts aren't just assembled for me and sold through an online store. My guess is Shawn Sr is very busy burning ROMs and soldering carts
  17. no problems with PMC on my NTSC expansion model, get the graphics glitch on a PAL 7800 though
  18. no, one of the first, not sure of rarity, but I got one
  19. I'll take some more detailed photo's over the next few days when I get chance, but to give you a brief description, there are 3 boxes inside, The regular 1010 box, a brown box listing the contents, which has the psu and the 5 tape games, and what looks to be a 'slimline' 800XL box, a little over 1/2 the height of the regular 800XL box. It's all cream (no yellowing!) and I am really happy with this find, the listing said nothing about the original outer box. I guess that it is from somewhere like Argos or Dixons.Ill try and find out.
  20. As long as it's AC, and I'm sure that the 1027 is, it should be OK. And you're right, I probably wouldn't stretch to a new 400 no new 400 needed it powers the 400 and 1050 fine
  21. please excuse my possibly dumb question, but can I put a bigger hard drive in a soft modded x-box?
