    A moment of silence. My faithful Thinkpad T60p stopped booting up. A faithful laptop for the last 4 years I liberated from a former employer. Last words: BEEEP BEEP BEP.

      You might try both directions. That beep pattern could be the fan detect. That model wants to see the fan running, or it won't boot.
