  1. Lol...I always test if it works via the vanilla method before I move on to real hardware and alternate basics.

Works as far as i can tell perfectly of a vanilla setup (emulated)..

If w1k uses Winuae I suggest he does not post a bug report like that to Toni Wilen, he will get savaged :)

Then again, "it doesn't work" isn't even a bug report...(or even fully factual in this case)

  2. I think my comment about Jumpman being ugly was a poor choice, for me the graphics were more functional than pretty, the animation was ok but in the end it was a stick man and blocks / basic shapes BUT the game ROCKED, I still play it every week as I do Spelunker although I like the NES version much better (its great). Jumpman is always the first game that springs to mind when someone asks about the 8bit which considering we have titles like Star Raiders etc that makes Jumpman pretty awesome in my book.

As for game criticism of newer titles, if its helpful then fine but attacking a game is a no no for me (yes I know, I called Jumpman ugly :) ), if you don't like a game because you believe the gfx suck then fine, but if you feel the need to publicly express yourself then at least have the decency to be polite about it, I've seen some really nasty comments re games across various formats which are just plain ignorant. There are many games I think are sub standard to others but the simple fact is that I myself could not even code something of that quality so I salute the game maker, at least he or she made an effort...More than I can do..

As said before, I don't care what the eye candy is like, its the game I play and how it plays, I look at some of the stuff I see on these so called next gen machines and they look stunning but they play like a dogs dinner, give me good old jumpman every time, if a dev gets the gameplay right it should have every chance, of course there will be those that may look and say "its not that pretty" but the TRUE gamer will see past that and see the playability. Lord knows the versions of Lode Runner I've seen with 3D graphics etc and loads of colour but NONE play like Doug's original.

And I have to say that some of the most beautiful games I've ever played had NO graphics, most of the Infocom range of adventures were so well written that the words alone conveyed and created jaw dropping scenes in your head, I for one could sit with one of their games and lose hours and hours just enjoying the magic it created, brilliant stuff.

  3. I did not intend this one as a joke. I respect this guy as much as anyone because many of us made use of his programming. I am glad someone is looking to go forward with upgrading RMT. I am not sure if anyone took it over or if anyone took control of it.

In that case my apologies, just looked wrong to my tired eyes..

  4. I know the original programmer, Radek Sterba had an unfortunate encounter with a train.

Maybe its just me but that sounds pretty crass...

A very well respected community person who met an untimely death and you make it sound like a joke?

    Maybe I'm just tired?

  5. A feature request-ish..

For the day when you have nothing to do, can't think what next to add to Altirra and are bored (you must have so many days like this ;) )

How about a drop on built in SID tune player as well as a SAP player that I think has been asked about before..

Just seems a shame that you went to the trouble of adding the SID hardware but you then have to make special disks up to play the sids.

As always, purely throwing things out there, if one day it suddenly appears I'll say a huge thank you, if it never happens I'll still say a huge thank you for every other feature you add.

Friend of mine handed me a bag of obscure hardware he pulled out of his ass garage

Interesting storage area I guess :)

  6. Man, I just love the boxes from those early years. Big, bold, beautiful. The artwork only is worth having it. The late 70s and early 80s, J.R. Ewing, Dallas, Disco, KISS, Atari, it was all there...we didn't know how good we had it. I need President Ronald "RayGun" now!

Yep, the early stuff was a thing of beauty, that was my era and some of the best times were had then...I still look at my Atari 800 and say to myself "that's how a computer should look"

  7. This feature is awesome! I was looking at the New Aladdin magazines and it was constantly prompting for disk swaps. By placing all of the diskette files into the H1: drive, swapping is no longer required. Just, "Press Any Key" and the program will continue :) Thanks, phaeron.

Oh missed this...So much for me not reading docs, apologies Avery... :)

    Dead handy feature...

  8. True, but investing time writing lists of advanced feature requests implies a level of interest sufficient to warrant looking at the manual first.

Yes indeed, wasn't meaning to rubbish peoples time and dedication.....

    Poorly thought out by me...

Too much on my plate as it were...

  9. My wife's been away taking care of a sick mother so I tend to get a bit depressed myself. Hope things improve for us both! Cheers!

Sorry to hear Bryan, I wish her a speedy recovery, I think every one know the story re my ill daughter who has now just been diagnosed with a reversible (hopefully) version of polycystic ovaries, lifes tough for my 14yr old but she's getting better by the day..

  10. I think its safe to say Phaeron knows we love his work and dedication.

As for the odd question about its workings, no harm done, even I fail to know what it all does and I've followed it since the very first beta and use it daily. Also these days most people are incredibly busy so reading docs etc takes second place to life :)
